Yup. The cheapest I have ever seen is 399. And they still need an exaust.
They are also slightly less efficient than a hundred dollar wall mount unit or central air.
You really wont save money that way. You could try a humidifier to make the room seem cooler.
I noticed you said "THE" apartment and then you said "THE" room.
What is your setup like. I have a two bedroom apartment. Keep the air vents closed in the bath, kitchen and livingroom. Then close all the doors. If you only get AC in the rooms you need, you might save some money.
Thats what I do. I am able to sleep in my bedroom at night, and I can keep my computer room cool during use.
