i need a rheobus!!

can someone recommend a good and CHEAP 5.25 rheobus? i have a slk800 and smart fan II and it cool TOO well (39C under FULL load @ 1.65V) but it is ridiculosly loud @ 4600 rpm

Doesn't the TT Smart Fan II have its own individual speed controller? I was under the impression that you received both a thermal device that controlled the speed by temperature, as well as a manual controller, and you were allowed to use either one... ?

yeah, it's ok for the time being cuz my side panel is popped off but when it goes back on it's gonna be a pain in the @$$. btw, another stupid question, do rheobus work only with fans that are adjustable or all fans?

I'll do a second (and a third) for the Sunbeam (I have two, one for each box). And you can use them with any fan, and the Sunbeams with lights as well. I really prefer Sunbeam because they have a high power rating (20 watts per channel x 4 channels) and they can turn things (fans, lights) completely off, instead of just down.

Will the nobs on the sunbeam fit behind the door of a chieftec case? I emailed SVC 4 days ago but have to yet to get a reply.

Yes they do.


The sunbeam is the best I've used. And since the knobs can turn the power completely off, it's also great to use with cathodes.

Just don't look directly at those leds. they will blind you.

Anyone use the zalman? it has 2 switches plus 4 dials. I use cathodes but the sunbeam wouldn't work as i would use all the dials for fans.

I can't say about wheather or not they fit behind the doors of any case (I don't really like doors on my cases) but I do know that the knobs (and LEDs, they are superbright, as someone said...) are easily replacable. I saw an online shop with replacement knobs (mostly to customise PCs) that should work in case the knobs on the Sunbeam don't.

I have the zalman & the sunbeam.
The sunbeam is rated at 20W per channel, whereas the zalman offers 7W.
I've got 7 panaflo's on one sunbeam, and it handles that many fans easily.
The only downside is the blinding LED's, but these can be "dimmed" with any kind of translucent paint/marker.
The zalman simply offers more controlling options, but if you are going for cost, go with the sunbeam.

THE LEDS WILL BLIND YOU, be forewarned (not literally, but the are QUITE bright)

And they do fit behind antec cases, not sure on the coolermaster, but i would guess not.

As for the SuperBright LEDs, I just bought some replacements. This is said to be a simple exchange. The LEDs appear to be easy to replace, just pop the old ones out, put the new ones in. I should get them early next week and will be doing the replacement soon after. Not only will this dim the night lights, the LEDs will now match my case LEDs (purple/UV for the server, red for the main rig).

Has anyone tried the DigiDoc 5's? Newegg has them if you're looking, and i was thinking of buying one. Don't really know much about them, but they seem really top of the line for controlling case stuff. Anyone have any experiance with these?

I've never had a coolermaster case so I can't say if the sunbeam will fit behind the door or not.


I've never thought much of those digi docs, but this version is pretty good.


Vantec had one out which suked royally with the first version. Now they have another that fits inside a 3.5" bay, and I have to admit it is good. It's called the vantec nexus nxp-205. Around the knobs it glows blue, pic here and here. Can take 18w per channel but does not turn completely off like the sunbeam does.

They have an even newer version that does have on/off knobs. Haven't received that one yet.
