I need a pair of sunglasses

Even with other people's expensive glasses I've sampled I can see image distortion and don't want to mess with my eyes that way. Just wondering if there are any brand or models anybody has had experience with that have no image distortion. I don't wear any right now.

You may not even notice it unless you move the glasses up and down a few times real quick while focusses on something.

Also, polarized or not?

My little brother has 2 pairs of Oakley's he uses when he's racing [biker] that work pretty well. I've worn them a few times and I don't recall any image distortion. Well... There was some coloring shifts because of the lenses.

polarized prescription glasses are the absolute best shades i have ever had. plus, insurance paid for them.

dont know if there is a way to get that quality of glass without the prescription, but that's how i would go.

Have a set made for you at your local optometrist. Won't be cheap, but the lenses WILL be "optical grade" lenses. You will have the choice of frames, lens shapes, tints, and polarizing or not.

I went right ahead with perma-tinted prescription lenses. Must admit that they suck though. The lens are too small to cover my whole eye, and my prescription's so thick that anything much bigger will probably weigh a ton. Toying with the idea of taking the risk of walking infront of a car with normal shades...

Get Revos. Awesome glasses, great vision.

Agreed. Revo and Maui Jim's have the best lens quality on the market for "off the rack" sunglasses. Before I had to start wearing prescription glasses full time, (reading glasses before) I wore Jims exclusively. I referred to them as "air conditioning for the eyes"

Damn, people. OP said he wanted glasses without image distortion.

OP, check out Pilot magazine. Every year they review many sunglasses paying special attention to optical quality; not looks, colors, style. When I was searching for glasses a few years ago, I read that years glasses review and bought their top rated pair, Oakley Square Wire 2.0. Hinged ear pieces and polarized. Very nice, but pricey.

Go to the local sunglasses stand/outlet in the mall and try on some pairs. If you find a pair you like, go home and look for them on the internet to see if you can get a better deal. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Go for polarized lenses.
