I have an ATI Radeon x300se. Its a sorry ass card to say the least. It's 128mb pci-e but memory bandwidth is like 2gb per second. Anyways, whats the best card for around 150$.

Also, my processor is a Prescott 3ghz 530. How good/bad is it for gaming?

If you tell us what your budget is, it would be a lot easier to recommend stuff for you.

wait and see if amd has anythin on that prie range on may 14th... otherwise u can get an 8600gt for 150 and try to overclock it to gts speeds. im not sure if the difference between gts and gt is only the clockspeed though... some1 might wanna clarify that...

Depending on whether or not you have PCI-E or AGP, you could go for a 7600gt, x1950 pro (I think that's the agp model out, not sure though), or an 8600gt. That also depends on how good your power supply is as well.

7900gt's pop up in the FS/FT section here every now and then for a good price. Could pick up one of those and OC the hell out of it.

There, I highlighted it. :)

My bad...You also asked about CPU so that is what probably threw me off...

Anyway...

Best bang-for-buck @ $150 would definitely be this.

I'm in the same boat, looking for a ~$150 video card. I'm thinking of an EVGA 7900GS at tigerdirect for $149, with $20 rebate. Then StepUp in less than 90 days for a 8800 GTS refresh, if it happens. Looks like the 7900GS beats the 8600GT in a lot of benches

Good path to take!
