Hi.

I just need a mobo that will take all my parts from my PC and later on, when i get some more cash i will swap out my P4 3.2Ghz Processor and buy a Quad core that will use this new mobo.

So what would you guys recomend?

I will be using most of my parts from my other PC.

Which is:

P4 3.2 GHz (LGA 775)
ATI X1800XL (PCI-EX)
300 Gig (IDE) Hard Drive
LG DVD RW (IDE)
I Floppy Drive(nice to be able to use it on new PC)

(I have 1Gig DDR1 but i dnt think i can use it on this new Mobo.)

This PC will be for gaming, and i dnt need SLI or Cross-fire.
It will be nice to use my current ram but its okay if i have to upgrade to DDR2 or DDR3.

Also nice to have Sata 2 in this new Mobo.
And i need this mobo to last me a while.

Please, all help would be great.

Could i use this Mobo here?

Is it any good?

I don't plan on doing any overclocking.

Also besides the socket No. eg. "LGA 775", what else should i check to make sure that my procesor will work on a motherboard?

I would not suggest an Intel chipset but that is just a personal preference.

most people would recommend an Intel chipset over an nVidia one ...

If your CPU is an 800fsb, 1066fsb or 1333fsb it will work on a P35 chipset mobo - if it is a 533fsb it won't.

It completely depends on what you want to do with it. But as I said it is just a personal preference. That hopefully doesn't make me wrong and it doesn't make "most people" right. It just makes us different in our opinions.

And if I need more reasons than that, I'll take pictures of those 3 intel boards that are decorating my garden from last year. That view continues to reinforce my personal preference.

Intel and nVidia chipsets: both excellent.

Via? No comment.

For a good upgradable board:

P35 chipset, like in the Intel board you mentioned would be great.

Or, one of these:

Note: I did read that the Intel Q965 never got drivers that worked...not sure what is up with that...but, the 955X, and the 975X have worked well for me....

I second this question; I am looking to upgrade my system over time, and I was wondering if I could put my P4 Prescott 3.4GHz into a new motherboard with DDR2 and upgrade later to Penryn quad. The impression I'm getting is, with my 800MHz FSB, I'll be able to get a P35 Chipset motherboard...

Can the BAD AXE 2 suport this "Penryn quad"???

Right now the answer is no. Intel never designed the board or chipset to support Penryn, so whether they decide to do so in the future is up in the air...but I wouldn't count on it.
