Ok so I've been using a BenQ x805 for like 5 years and its honestly IMO the best KB i have ever owned. Only prob is it isn't made anymore because if it was i wouldn't be making this post.

Heres a review of it

anyway i need something to replace it and i would like it to be as similar as it can get. I really dislike full key KBs and i cant stand the laptop style keys. the BenQ uses what they call "x-key" which is less then full key but more then the laptop style. I really don't care about brand or price, only thing id like is one with some multimedia keys for volume and play/stop and track advance.

Your best bet is to head to a local retailer and try out the KBs they have on display. Then you'll know be able to find a KB thats too your liking. If they don't have one you like then i would suggest getting recomendations for KBs that may fit your discription that you can order.

Finding the right keyboard is very personal. Many factors need to be considered, and only you, the selector, can judge the pluses and minuses. Go to a big STaples or something similar and try them all. When you find the right touch and feel to suit you - go from there.

have you considered ebay?

what was the KB failure's nature? liquid spill? connection issues?
