I'm getting a little sick of trillian's crappy interaction with AIM (sending and recieving files, profile viewing, etc.)

I'm looking to switch to something new. I only use AIM, but i don't want to use their client (since it's an adware infested piece of crap).

Any suggestions besides trillian and gaim?

Danke.

My vote is for Gaim, but you already said it so I dunno, never really used much else besides AIM and Gaim...

Don't remember when Gaim was ever "bad".

Does ad hack give you logging and tabbed chat windows?

I use AIM 5.5.3595 + DeadAIM 4.5 and it's fine. Though, technically, you have to pay for the last version of DeadAIM.

Why not Trillian BTW?
The free 3.0 has come a long way since 0.7x.

If you are using an old version of AIM, I recommend 4.8 + AIM+. The only thing I remember it couldn'd do was sending/receiving files through NAT.

Personally, I've always liked MSN messenger way more than AIM, but everyone uses AIM, so there ya go.
