Anyway....i killed my wife's 1800+TBred. 🙁

It was an unlocked 1.5v processor running @ 2.3 ghz. (12.5 x 183)
She had a stick of pc2700 in it that was limiting it a bit.

She has one stick of pc3200 and I can swap another stick of pc3200 from my HTPC in for her to replace the pc2700.

That said. Is there another XP chip that will not be a downgrade?
mobile Barton maybe?

Did you burn it?

Well, my sys is a Barton 2500+ @ 2.2 and yes it does out run it.
That said, I have 2 newer Barton 2500+'s that neither of which will get above around 190 FSB without massive overvolting.

and to MegaWorks... I put it on a board to test if another CPU I was using was bad or the board was the prob. Anyway I think the mobo killed them both.

bump, c'mon guys I know a bunch of you have bought these mobiles....
I am gonna buy today, and alway rely on input from my friends here.

I've been very happy for over a year with my AXP-M 2600+. I haven't tinkered with overclocking in so long that I don't remember my exact voltages etc., but right now it's running at 2.2ghz, and I believe it's under 1.5 volts. I ran it at 2.4ghz for 6 months at 1.6 volts or so, but I eventually found myself not caring about the 200mhz and toned it down just in case the horror stories about voltage/lifespan are true. My max overclock on it was just short of 2.7ghz, but the voltage was way up there. Runs nice and cool with an SLK-900A and a 92mm Tornado @ 7 volts.

cool...
That's the kinda stuff I wanna here.

Heck you probably don't need to be running a Tornado on that thing.
I am not really as worried about voltage as you are. The box I am on right now has been running with 1.775v for over 2 years now and will probably outlast every other CPU I have.

Guys run into trouble when they start pushing 1.85-2.0v and get the temps too high.

heh...my wife's a little ticked @ me right now. (she has homework to do on her PC)
I am gonna have to swap that Barton in her box pretty quick if I know what is good for me.

Sounds like one of these (axp-m's) should make her sys a little more responsive than mine.
That will make things all better. 🙂

I've been running an AXP 1700+ (1.5v) at 11x214 : 2354 for around 4 years. It runs virtually 24/7/365 at 1.92v idling at 40c/load 49c. 100% stable...One of these days its bound to die.

I've got a 2400+ mobile 35w running at 11.5x200 on a crummy SOYO via board @ 1.75V its got a volcano 12 on it. Probably could take it higher but wont boot with manual FSB

make sure your board supports the xp-m... u need to be able to use the util to change the mult in sw with cpumsr usually...

My current rig is 2500+ mobile dancing @2.4ghz with a +.5v core voltage bump. (12x200)
Built 2 mATX pcs both running 2400+ mobiles @ 2.2ghz +.25v core voltage bumps. (11x200)

No multiplier locks, great overclocks, can't go wrong here!

does that mean you are running at 1.95vcore? yikes. i don't dare go above 1.85vcore, so i max out at about 2350. i'm at 2.2ghz 1.7vcore right now, but oddly my chip is capable of 213 fsb stable. i wish i had a lanparty. 🙁

Not sure how much you are willing to spend. Even though the mobil barton is a good chip, but a sckt A Sempron might be cheaper. Just an option.

oops my decimals were a digit off. System defaults the 2500+ to 1.575v I upped it to 1.625v@2.3 and 1.65v@2.4. @1.975v i'd need some serious water cooling =P

xp2400m 45w running 11.5x200 1.625v with Thermalright 900a HS. Idles 39 45 max I've seen loaded. (11x200 with 1.575v....sorta like a low voltage, cool running 3200)

You probably do not want to buy a mobo and processor. BUT, for around $130.00 (as opposed to whatever you are paying for the mobile barton) you can get a sempron 3100 palermo and a decent 754 board and really do an upgrade. This would beat any socket A thingy you put in there. The 3100 palermo is a great overclocker to boot.
