Are you kidding? You didn't buy a TDI because you can't tackle electrical problems so you bought a Hybrid instead?

I'm sorry but I don't follow your logic.
VW and many Euro cars have been plagued with electrical problems for DECADES. The current Jetta and Bug are no exception.

That isn't really the point I was trying to make... if you don't want to tackle electrical issues of a century old technology like a diesel what makes you think you can tackle electrical issues of a 21st century hybrid?

What electrical issues? I am sure you have lots of overwelming proof, right? I mean, if there were really issues people would have been up-in-arms since its the most popular/famous hybrid out there.

They key word is IF the car has issues. You have no garuntee either car will or will not have issues of any kind, electrical or otherwise.

If you don't feel capable of handleing an electrical issue on a VW what makes you think you could handle one on a more complicated Prius?

people buy cars heavily on reputation though, so the prius is more unlikely to have any issues. It's obviously a generalization, but that's how reviews are.

And feeling capable of handling issues and actually being capable are two different issues :)

with that said, I wouldn't get a prius just because I don't feel this hybrid business is a viable alternative. At least not now.
