can you pm me or something so i understand, but what do you mean "steal", im just saying networks are all open on the wireless frequencies, and by hacking im not necessarily saying doing anything illegal, but i'd just like an explaination. thanks! i dont want to cause trouble.

"i suggest to everyone here to get a wireless pcmcia adapter for a laptop, load linux, and dive into the world of 80211b hacking. its like a free for all out there i swear to god. "

I suggest you not encourage our members to steal.

Yours is not to question why, just accept our lock. Since you are a junior member you got off light. Normally, I would sick the Mean Mod on you and let him ban you, your email, and your IP address.

Do not question mods without good reason.
What you're saying implies that we get wireless adapters and mooch off someone elses wireless setup in their house.
Or have I missed something?

Not to mention having access to their files/folders on said network. People keep a great deal of private information on their computers and, unfortunately, most don't know that wireless networking isn't the most secure environment in the world.

1) You're stealing bandwith from them, most likely. If not, you are stealing data from them (if you use net shares)

2) It's not hacking. Don't flatter yourself. It's being some punk kid with a new toy.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and this should be in Forum issues.

not mooching necessarily, many users have set up open dhcp wifi servers to allow for wireless piggybacking, all you have to do for many of them is just scan the different channels on the frequency to find one thats being used, and see what it is set up like.

...and in local news, Zerocomm, AT's newest member was unceremoniously booted from the AT Community today. When asked "why?" a Moderator Spokesperson simply replied "Newb, bad! Bad Newb!"
