I have a system that i'm installing slackware 7 on, so I can use it as a webserver, file server, and a host of other little things.
I need a book that can walk me through things like instalation, working with packages, installing SSH, installing Apache, seting up Samba, etc. The kicker being, every book I find is geared toward a GUI. I intend to keep this box completely command-line.

any reccomendations?

The discussion forums at www.linuxnewbie.org might be able to offer more advice, but the big two I always hear aboutare both by O'Riley and they are Running Linux, and Linux in a a Nutshell.

I saw a neat book from Wrox publications at their Bang!inux conference. Can't remember the name though. Check out Wrox. Its pretty good. O'Rielly of course is a class apart and always has been. Look that up as well. Text definitely and both cover all that you have mentioned.

P.S: I think older Linux Unleashed books also used Slack as an example.
