I need a job this summer. I don't really want to work fast food or restaurants at all.

I wouldn't mind working somewhere that has some physical labor involved. It would help me keep myself in shape. Anyone have some good ideas?

I checked out the UPS site and they have a spot at the airport near me. The pay is 8.50-9.50 an hour and you work 3.5-4 hours every weekday. Only problem is you may have to load packages weighing 70 pounds. I'd like to do that, but I'm not that strong. Think I can put enough muscle mass on by summer time?

Find an employment agency. Or better yet... what kinds of things are you interested in? Make a resume and drop it off (or pick up an application) at those kinds of stores/offices/whatever.

I delivered furniture one summer, the days go by quick. I stayed on part time with them the following fall and spring semester too.

Other options are survey crew, general warehouse work etc...

Thats perfect. Its like an extra long workout but its not like construction, where you have to totally abuse yourself for twelve hours at a time.

I like computers so I was thinking Best Buy. But I've applied there twice over the last couple years. I think I had to be 18 and I wasn't 18 at the time.

I love comps, but I'd never work at some big store...

Seriously look into landscaping... Cool people to work with, you don't work if it rains, you get paid very well, and like I said before you'll build muscle like crazy and get nice and tan :)

And plus there's no better feeling than looking at a beautiful multi-tiered brick and stone patio and flower beds that used to be a pile of dirt, and thinking to yourself, "I did that" :)

I worked at UPS, and I worked at their HUB the biggest UPS place you can work at. It says up to 70 lbs... not all packages are 70 LBS. Most are very light. You can be skinny an work there. You wont gain much muscle its mostly about endurance. You lift the packages the whole time/no break cept for a 15 min one in the middle and there is a reason you only work 3-4 hrs a day.

The job is a bit draining, but pretty easy, especially after you have been there for a couple weeks. The hardest part about working at UPS was probably the weather heat/cold 90+ degrees means even more when you are in a non-ventilated trailer unloading a 40 foot trailer for 1 hour. Sometimes they also rush you to meet deadlines, but if you are slow they just replace you with a fast guy and put you on a easy trailer.

You can also be put on loading trailers, which is harder. Think of tetris and making a wall out of boxes and there you have it. Unloading is easier though.

And that $8.50/hr you are going to get is about $100-110 a week. They have union/medical fees and crap. Their pay is crap. I'd say.

Go work at a bank.

Fast food is not bad. Lots of girls, as many hours as you want, and it's good work experience.
