I need a job; what job did you work during college?

i worked at a grocery store from when i was 14 till i was 22 after i had solidified a 'real' job in my field after i graduated.

work-study job on campus is the best option.

personally, i work at tufts uni during summers (NEFFAGE!), and hallmark during school years.

I worked as tennis racket stringer. I also worked as university apartment cleaner. Both jobs sucked of course, but the money was much needed then.
You do not sound in bad position really, you'll get a job and be out in no time. Good luck.

I worked for the college food service.

Edit: If you're lucky, then working for them will cover some/all of your food bill.

Food service is what it is. I hated it at first, but once I got used to it (after 1-2 months), it wasn't bad at all.

By covering your food bill, I meant in addition to your wages. They'll probably at the very least let you eat a meal for every shift you work. At most they might give you a free meal plan for the school, so you could eat there even on the meals you're not working.

The big plus for me is that I was living on campus and didn't have to drive to work, but it sounds like that's not a plus for you.

After I worked in food service for a couple years, I decided to look for a more-lucrative position. I tried telemarketing, which I absolutely hated and sucked at. Then I worked a few odd jobs and temp positions.

Then the temp company placed me in the company I'm working for now. I was just doing office work, but they quickly found out I knew a lot about computers, so I started assisting the IT manager. Little did I know, but the IT manager would be stepping up into a higher management position in a year, and I'd be taking her job.

If I get desperate Ill look into it it doesnt sound too bad
But all the jobs i have been applying for are on-campus so I don't have to drive

Thanks for the help and support! I got the job!
Max 20 hours a week
$8 an hour
Support for Google Apps and WebCT (Course Tools)

Graveyard shift security guard. I got paid to do my homework or surf the internet. Those were good times.

I worked my ass of through high school and saved up about $40,000, then sold my car (2004 Honda Civic) back to my parent who I bought it from ($10,000 = $50,000). Plus by not having a car means im not spending $70 a month on gas and then I would also have to pay for insurance.
So I had planned not working during college, I'm taking 18 - 20 hours of class per semester during the fall and spring. 12 hours of class during the summer. Current GPA 3.7

Tuition = Paid.(Scholarship)
Housing = Parents ($410 month) also don't know long I can keep this up 😉
Food = $2,800 a year
Other crap = $1,000 a year

but I HATE watching my saving drop. Now I guess I'm job searching. I just applied for 14 on campus jobs, ranging from cashier to Groundskeeper. I think if I don't get any of those I'll look into off campus jobs. But then i would have to bike to them, not too far but it gets HOT here.

So what jobs did you guys have during college?

Instead of working some low-paying hired-monkey type job, I would just take out extra student loans and have as much fun as possible when in college. When you graduate, your increased salary will compensate for the loan amount that you took out when in college.

First two years I was a weekend receptionist. Did some basic data entry or just watched the door while I surfed or did homework. One of the bigger mistakes of my life quitting that job. Instead of working 8 hours 2-3 weekends a month, I just slept in and gamed until night; the original plan was to actually have more time to study.

Ah, just got into a Master's program, start in the fall. Will be doing part-time and working full-time so yay.

I started my own IT business in junior year and still going strong after grad. Now I can't do anything with my B.S. degree in biology.
