I need a job title

Analyst is the generic word for programmer at my former job....but alas, HR folks liked to brand everyone an analyst because they hired a bunch at one time. It was a copy and paste kind of thing on their documentation side.

If you are doing more systems administration, just go for that. No need to mention the rest unless you're updating your resume...then you can get more nitty gritty with what you actually do.

So I got a positive reception to both Systems Analyst and Systems Administrator. Apparently we do actually follow some sort of guideline when using Analyst for our other departments (I think the R&D areas) so that may affect the title option. There is a short approval process as well but this should be fairly straightforward. Thanks guys

I know some people if you ever decide to move to the good side of the state.

Thanks - I appreciate that

Must be the joke of the day.

Hey - GR is a neat place not to mention being Beer City USA. What does your city have to offer? Huh? Huh? It's not even in the cool Carolina

I think "Systems Administrator" is about as close, yet vague as you can say.

Systems can be software or physical.

I built and maintain the Win7 Embedded image (Complete with custom shells) that goes into many of our products

Based on that sentence, you may want to put /Developer or /Software Engineer or something of that nature that implies that you had additional responsibilities in your job title. The company I worked with years ago would charge a lot of money to do exactly that for other companies and bill the time as software engineer time.
