I need another used car. My 93 Eclipse was just totaled :( It was my first car and I was gonna sell it. But, being without the car and driving my mom's car, I realize that I actually miss it. I loved it, even though I had to get an oil change every 2,500 miles.:disgust: I was thiking about a next genereration Eclipse (96), but I looked into it, and they look like they are nothing like the 1st generation Eclipses. I thought about a 96 Celica, but they cost too much. I thought avout a 93 MX-6, but I can't find any info on it. you think I should stick to another 1st generation Eclipse? What are my other choices with a budget of about $7000.

How about a 2nd generation RX7, if you can afford the maintenance.

Should blow the doors off an Eclipse, & they look better too.

I am gonna stay away from Civics and accords. There are so many on the road that I have developed a distaste for them. I am looking into more of a sports car anyways. the only non sports car that has crossed my mind is a Suburu Impreza.

yeah, I realized that...that's why I said Prelude first. I'd take a prelude over an eclipse...IMNSHO...

Preludes and Celicas are good. I had bad luck with my Celica, but that was the Dealer service Department's fault. I've found much more professional service for my Honda.

If you loved your Eclipse so much, why not look for another? The owner of the pizza shop where I work has a 2nd generation Eclipse turbo (I forgot the exact year) and he loves it. He added a boost controller and did some other stuff to it. He claims to be running at least 250 HP when he dials the boost up. The 2nd gen. will for the most part improve on the 1st gen, so it's not the same car, it's better. I think they look pretty good, too. Try one out.

Hondas are reliable and keep their value for a long time. My 91 Accord wagon is worth as much as a BMW 3 series of similar vintage.

Used american brand cars are always cheap, good bang for the dollar. Almost disposible.

Inports cost more, have greater resale value.

If I had to get myself a used car, i'm thinking used mustang gt. Gas cost, different story...

I'd look for a 95 or so Integra GSR. Best bang for buck import.

If you want a sports car, then find a used Mustang or 3rd gen Z28 to fix up. Those can be ungodly road brawlers. Otherwise, if you want to stay with imports, try and find a 91-95 Toyota MR2 Turbo. Much quicker than most 4bangers you'll run into :D

If you want info on the MX-6, just look at a Ford Probe. Samn damn car in a uglier body IMO. Not much in the way of balls either.

Yuck, Mustangs :disgust:

I say go for MR2 or my baby car, the Prelude.
My friend is selling his MR2 right now, for $5000, it's a stick, too bad I don't have money for it :frown:

I like my Integra. I believe they are consistently rated highly as used cars.

i'd stay away from the 2nd gen eclipse if i were you. if you're into performance, the 1st gen had a bigger turbo. on the reliability side, 2nd gen eclipses have the "crank walk" problem, which is rather expensive to fix.

if reliability is your concern, go with a Lude or a GSR. their parts are easy to come by and hondas are very reliable. if you want something faster, either go with nitrous or buy american.
