I need a good computer game for the summer

So far this summer, I work full time at my internship. 8:30am-5pm. Then I go to the gym. Spend some time with my girlfriend. And jerk around on my computer till I get sleepy.

A good long lasting computer game would really do me well right about now.

A good zombie shooter would be awesome.

If you have the patience for a good strategy game, then Galactic Civilizations 2 (future in space), or Hearts of Iron 2: Dommsday (WWII + WWIII) would be great. They certainly have the potential to last for a really long time.

I picked up guild wars (not factions) for the summer. if you can get a few friends to play, it's pretty fun plus there's no monthly payments.

what internship are you working? my internship has the same times.

Guild Wars, BF2, Oblivion

Do you have UT2004? There's a free zombie shooter mod coming out mid to late June called Out of Hell. It's a total conversion mod of UT2004 and I've played an early demo of it; it was great and his final release should be awesome.

Even though it is probably my all time favorite, I'd have to say it wont occupy an entire summer.

In order to keep someone busy for a long time you would need several FPS's with long campaigns. Or a single FPS with multiple mini-game types, like Battlefield 2 or UT 2004.

For serious time-killing I'd recommend an Epic Role-Playing Game. Perhaps Baldurs Gate 2 (if you can find it) or Neverwinter Nights. The Platinum or Diamond edition with all the add-ons.
Knights of the Old Republic would be OK, but I think you'd need both games (1 and 2) to fill a summer.

Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 (Morrowind and Oblivion) will definately keep you occupied, but I HIGHLY recommend getting the strategy guide for each.

Deus Ex, The Marathon Trilogy, The Lands of Lore Trilogy, Crusader: No Remorse, Far Cry, Mafia, and Baldur's Gate II should keep you busy for most of the summer.

O WAIT OMG NOOOOO I MEAN DUEX ES YEA LOL LOL YEA SORRY WHOOPS WOULDNT WANNA PLAY A FUN GAME

lmao. However, although you may have a point if this was about console games, but he said computer game. Halo is a horrible port.

OP, what type of games do you usually prefer? Strategy or RPG would be the most time consuming if that is your only criterion.

RPG- Elder Scrolls 3 or 4, Neverwinternights, or KOTOR.

Strategy- Dawn of War, Galactic Civ 2, or Rome: Total War.

i have 520 Hours into Oblivion . . . great value for under $50 including the good plugins [pirates and wizards'].

still really fun

it's the best-looking game out yet . . . a HYBRED RPG/FPS [fighting is FPS] much like DuesEx. . . . you don't need to be a RPGer - Oblivion is my 1st Fantasy RPG. 🙂

until you get tired of the mind numbingly boring, repetitive, and easy combat or the dungeons that look exactly like every other dungeon in the game.

i think you missed the entire point of the game , , , it is not a "pure fps" it is RPG-FPS hybred . . . there is the Main Quest, dozens of SideQuests including Factions to join, and hundreds of "places" to explore.

and it is no more "boring" than the pointless running back-and-forth in DeusEx covering the same ground with a "shopping list". . . . or the mindnumbing boredom of Doom3's [or FEAR's . . . or Q4's ] "sameness". 😛
