This limits me to mATX or mITX cases. At the moment I would prefer NOT to go mITX (cooling, SFX PSUs, etc) but if somebody has a really great solution then II'm open to it.

Heres some that I've found:

HTPC-style:

Silverstone Grandia GD05B - $70

Mini-tower style:

SILVERSTONE Sugo SG03B-F - $105

Fractal Design Core Series Core 1000 - $40

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16811352009

Which one offers the best cooling/silence/etc? I'm really tempted by the thought of a HTPC-style case being my main rig and the Grandia GD05B has 3x 120mm fans and has some reviews out on the internet that are generally positive. Clearance for 11" video card too. HTPC-style cases are definitely not as conventional as mini towers though, so that gives me some pause. I'll be ordering my case by tomorrow most likely so any help or input is definitely appreciated.
The Core 1000 seems a little bit low-end and so that gives me some pause. Silverstone mini-tower is the only case I could find that fit into my listed dimensions that I liked. I definitely need some help here.

For reference, my planned build:

i5 2500k
mATX Z68 mobo
GTX 460 or 6870 or gtx 560 etc
450-550w standard PSU

Some questions:
Are mITX cases a lot worse than mATX cases for cooling/general silence? I don't need as small as possible, I just need small ENOUGH to fit into my carry-on luggage. Smaller is better though. Would I suffer going with the HTPC-style case over the mini towers in terms of cooling/silence/general computing experience? Which would you get?

Use the suitcase as the case. This is the best example.

In the same boat as you and I've been waiting for something with usb 3.0 to come out but that hasn't been the case yet. There isn't much selection right now.

Here is a good thread to follow: http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1606522

I'm waiting for the Fractal Design Core 1000 to come to the USA.

My backup is the CoolerMaster Elite 343 or 341.

Hey guys, thanks for all the responses/help.

As mentioned above, the Core 1000 is out already. Along with the much-anticipated Design Mini and Arc Mini. Unfortunately those are too big for my needs.

Turns out I have a tiny bit more height clearance for carry-on baggage for Southwest so even with clothing as padding in my suitcase I should be able to fit this thing in it:

Silver Stone Temjin Series TJ08B-E. $100.

Thread over at [H] on it:

Since this case is going to be moved around I"m a little bit wary of going with the Core 1000 ($40) because its so thin/low priced...I"m willing to shell out the extra cash for a case that I could possibly re-use and stuff. Extra space does help too. Fractal Core 1000 is more portable though/easier to lug around, though I would only be doing that 2 to MAYBE 4 times a year. Main fears with the Core 1000 is lackluster cooling and noise issues due to the single 120mm fan. I do have a couple spare 120mm Slipstreams from a friend but yea.

What would you guys do?
Stay MicroATX in the first place?
If so, Fractal Design Core 1000 or the Silverstone Temjin TJ08B-E?
