I need a flow meter

I'm looking for a flow meter, to keep track of water flow in my PC (case is going to be a beast to get into, so I can't just glance at the pump to see it go). Does anyone know where I can get a decent (cheap) flow-measuring sender for 1/2" tubing?

you just want a go-no go type sensor? or do you actually need to know a value? how accurate does it need to be?

that is why i asked if a go - no go sensor would work. measuring flow is fairly complex, so a good flow meter costs money. you have to have a straight run of pipe for a venturi and they highly accurate pressure gages or use some other design that is costly

i think a temperature sensor (thermocouples should be cheap) might be the way to go. put that in the discharge of your pump or heat exchanger. if the temperature rises significantly , then either flow has stopped, or something else bad has happened, either way you would be alerted by the temperature change. temperature is much easier to measure than fluid flow.

$3.50, yes 🙂

I'm looking for something like a spinner that is in the water line, and is connected to a simple device that will eventually lead to a simple analog gauge. Needle goes high, means water flow is high. Needle goes to zero means time to buy a new CPU.
