I need a final project to do for AP physics..

me and a partner have to come up with a project, and get it passed by the teacher, to do during this last month of school. anyone have some cool ideas? i would prefer something hands on, and i have the capability of making basic circuits, models, etc.

oh, this is a high school physics class, so dont try to stump me with stuff, just something fun that will look cool for a good grade.

build a gravity machine. thats what me and my bud are dooin for our senior physics project in college. and yes its actually possiable weather or not its gonna work is another story all together. but teh theroy is sound and if it wors correctly you should be able to live in 1.4Gs in our little contraption

Does it have to be "serious" or is it like every other post-AP prject where its more fun then work?

Try a self powered engine or something. If you're good, you can come up with an engine that just needs an initial charge and can use its own inirtia and momentum to keep on moving. For a high schooler, that'll be pretty good.

A sound activated motor would also be good. I'm pretty sure you know how to make a quick microphone. Have it so when the magnet is vibrated, a slight electrical current is enduced through the wires to turn the motor.

Ahh, AP physics projects... Those were the days...

hmm thos esound like some pretty cool ideas...

one i was thinking of was to make a little car, and have it powered by hampsters in wheels, and see if we could somehow (by bribing them with food and such) get them to go the direction we wanted.

hhe anyone think that sounds too cruel??

If you're aiming for the fun aspect definitely make a video. Then you can do stupid stuff that's entertaining while still showing the "scientific" aspects of the project.

I remember plagarizing a project for AP Euro History one year. Did a video but the paper, 7 pages worth, came courtesy of the web.

You could always try one of my favorite projects. Take a microwave overn, turn the plug over, and it becomes a macrowave unit that instantly freezes things. You'll get a great grade on the paper explaining the principles.

Running out of time for your project? You can easily make more if you can develop another project I have also been working on -- a realtime generator. Unfortunately, so far, all I have working are a couple test models of a related device, the downtime generator.
