I need a dirt cheap (under 50 bucks) wide angle lens

I have virtually no budget right now but I need to get my hands on a wide angle lens. I realize the image quality will suck but I think with some post processing tricks I might be able to compensate a little bit. I'm going to be using the lens to do mostly indoor and short distance shots. Any recommendations?

uh....50 bucks...and you want a wide angle?
Why not...save up some money...cause i'm not sure if its possible to get any lens for 50 bucks that is wide angle that will fit on the rebel series.

If you need it NOW, then i suggest renting one for the day you will use it. Canon should be easy to rent, it isn't like pentax where its a PITA to rent gear.

50 bucks?

Don't you have the 18-55mm that came with the rebel? Thats the only lens I know of on the cheap that gives you such a wide angle. Still think it will cost a few dollars more than 50.

$50 will get you at best a 50/1.8 used, if you're lucky. other than that, you're going to be a doing a whole lot of post processing. namely, creating the whole thing from scratch

renting a lens would be your only option. or you could buy a lens, use it, and return it within the return period. but YMMV and not very nice for the next person who ends up purchasing your returned lens, thinking it's new

This just popped into my head. If you have (or have access to) Photoshop you can do a panoramic shot and combine them to make the look of a UWA. I know CS4 does a really good job at combining them. Or you can take the shot and crop the top and bottom off to make it look wider.

That will not look the same. It will be as wide in the end, but it will not look the same.

And, there are very few wide angle converters that will fit your lens for $50 - even on E-Bay. Most run about $150,

There are some older film cameras that come with wide angle lenses that you could pick up for under 50 dollars. Usually they come with 35mm lenses. I have one, a Nikon L35AF, which is a p/s with a superb f2.8 lens. You could probably find one for 20-30 dollars somewhere if you look hard. Otherwise for $50 you could probably find a used old film slr with a 35 or 28mm lens if you work at it. If you have a kit lens with your canon that's 18-55mm you have a find wide angle lens already. Used, you could pick one up (the non IS version) for $50 or less.
