I need a decent, cheap mobile Internet connection

Hi guys,

To make a long story short, I'm starting a computer (and network, etc.) design and repair business. It'll be a small business, but given how busy I am already just by word of mouth, I shouldn't have any problems growing in the near future.

With that said, I find myself walking into a lot of situations where I could just fix the problem on the spot if I could download XXX driver or program, or look something up quickly. I have a data plan on my Blackberry Tour, but using the browser is sickening and slow (interface, not connection speed). My girlfriend has a USB WAN modem from Verizon that I borrow from time to time, and it works great. The problem is, I can't borrow it all the time.

So what's my best option? I have both a Verizon account (personal) with a smart phone, and an AT&T account (business) with a non-smart phone and no data. Tethering would be a great option if I can somehow add it cheaply. In the next few months, I will probably look into dumping my Blackberry and buying something like a Droid Incredible.

Thanks.

I would try tethering your Verizon account. Theres some jailbreaking involved, but nothing too bad. Head over to either XDA or ppcgeeks for details :)

Another vote for tethering. Not sure how strict Verizon is on it, but tethering would be the perfect solution for you.

The big problem with the Verizon account is that it's not mine. The account is actually my girlfriend's, and I can't take the risk of doing something "illegal" and having them cancel the account or otherwise penalize us.

What is it, $15 / month extra to tether with a smart phone?
