For an emergency work backup I need a cheap 56k isp. Its highly unlikely I would use it for more than 10hrs a month.

I would prefer to not install anyone's software, and I'm in the albuquerque nm area if it makes a difference.

Options?

Netzero...It's like $5 a month or something if you pay for the year.

Thanks. $9 a month for 1yr in advance, or $10 monthly, or $8 for a two year commitment.

I was under the impression there are $5-$6 options and hope to get around there.

Most cable companies offer dialup. I think my RR has unlimited, and I know Earthlink has 20 hours a month free if you have high speed cable with them. Cox has various dialup packages depending on which HSI package you have. Might want to look into that if you have high speed at home.

They might but they are run locally and if the power goes out in the town the service is vulnerable to going out as well.

Looks like a solid possibility, thanks. No longterm contract needed for $7/month either.

What high speed provider do you have? I know mine offers a free dialup account just in case your high speed fails.
