An Asus A7V333-R with the optional firewire and USB I/O port support. I do not know if Asus will send a backing plate. I need a case that will house this and grow a raid set up and the power to run it.

I have access to in-win,enlight,case edge, and others. I need a beige box for the already purchased DVD and CD/RW and floppy drive.

Any recomendations?

May I suggest an Antec SX1240. It has fan-cooled positions for up to six hard drives as well as six 5.25" bays you could use for hot-swap trays. The other thing that's nice is that if you DID have a DVD drive and a CD-RW drive, you've still got enough 5.25" bays for a 3-disk SCSI RAID5 plus either a tape drive or a fourth SCSI drive as a hot spare. And with the 92mm exhaust position in the upper rear, you can actually get all that heat out of the attic. ;) Besides the 92mm, there are five 80mm positions not counting the PSU itself.

Antec's 400W PP412X power supply is respectable, with 245W of combined 3.3V + 5V power, or you can buy an Antec SX1200 (no PSU) and put in some other PSU of your choosing.

Oh, and I forgot to address the FireWire and USB question, but I happen to have the A7V333-R myself and it does come with a FireWire rear plate (with one standard FW outlet and one Sony i-Link FW outlet, you can pick one or the other). It also has an outlet plate for USB 2.0, and the I/O panel has two USB 1.1 and two USB 2.0 ports on it (they do send a custom I/O shield to accomplish this).

The onboard FW header does not jive well with the front-FW outlet on Antec's PerformancePlus and PerformanceII cases, by the way. I did a brain dump of all the A7V333 knowledge I thought might be useful, and you can find that here: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=29&threadid=804993

You are a God send. Thanks for the update and photo. I am upgrading a customer who was sold an amptron sytem with all-in-one athlon w/ddr, to this high end mobo with all the whips and whistles. I would rather use his case and upgrade the PSU then spend extra for a new case, IF his case is suitable. If that I/O plate fits in(and I'm sure it will) I will then have that option. I am only providing him with a mobo and XP2200+ with HS/Fan and I'll install and port over all his peripherals and HDD.

I just installed a CUV4x-D with dual PIII 850s. Dang,it goes fast too. My Dnet RC5 work units doubled with that sys on board.;)

I will soon build a dual Athlon MP just to see what it will do. I love computers.:)
