I need a 6 passenger pickup. Chevy Avalanche or Ford F-150 Supercrew

Go for Avalanche. I have the 1500. Seats 6 people comfortably, you can carry 8 foot stuff completely sealed, back window pops out for semi-convertible look, has 4 airbags for safety....

I have owned one since October, and haven't found a bad thing to say about it yet.

Do not buy the Crapalanche. 2 guys have them here at work. They have both have had problems with them (back window leaks. plastic cladding falling off, rattles). The F-150 is not the best selling vehicle in the world by accident. Get the 5.4L engine, its what I had in my '97, it's a good engine. Personally I would like to have the King Ranch model. Very nice.

Last year GM outsold em also... I agree with you get the F-150 of the two... I'm just posting that cause I don't like when companies bend things to say "Most sold for 25 years" not true, GM has outsold them, but it's cause the name Sierra is different from Silverado even though the truck is the same thing.

<---- sorry just a big hater of corporate rule bending 😉

PlatinumGold,

I have an Avalanche, and I have absolutely no problem with it. I love the utility of this truck and the ride is fantastic. I believe it will serve your purpose perfectly. Contrary to the opinions here, I find it aesthetically pleasing.

I also checked out the crewcabs (Silverado HD, F150) before choosing the Avalanche. The Avalanche came out on top on the ride and utility. If you price it to a similarly equipped crewcab, the Avalanche is also less expensive.

PM me for any questions, and check out this website.

Where did you get that data?

avalanche: weird looking, tiny bed, expensive

F150 SC: tiny bed, somewhat cheaper than avalanche.

i'd get an F250 crew cab. huge interior & bed with massive hauling/towing capacity (i own one). not much more expensive than supercrew.

I agree, the Avalanche is the best choice. It offers more power and feels better to me. I am a mechanic and have drove a lot of cars and truck and would pick the Chevy or GMC any day over ford.
Best thing to do is test drive both the same day. Like drive the ford then go drive the Chevy and see which one feels better and tell both places what you are trying to do.
Also I think GM still have their rebates up and low rates if you buy them.
My dad drove a Ford, Dodge, and a Chevy. I told him to get GM. After he drove them it was all hands down a GM buy. He got a GMC as the GMC store had a better deal on the same truck then the Chevy store did.

Like i said, i've been a ford diehard most of my life. Ford Maverick, Ford Pinto, Ford LTD, Ford Mustang 5.0 LX 🙂, now a Ford Windstar.

BUT, I bought a Olds Intrigue because i wanted a larger car and My dad had the Ford Taurus and i didn't want to drive the same car.

And, what i've discovered is that GM seems to have better quality than Ford. Mb it's just the car I bought, but JD Powers Report seems to agree. Also, the Avalanche is unique and you won't find a million of them on the road.

List price for List price the F-150 is not cheaper than an equivalently equiped Avalanche, only way f-150 is cheaper is if i go 2 WD vs 4 WD.

F-250 is tempting, but the Avalanche 2500 isn't bad either.

I've driven the F series and the Avalanche and so far i like the avalanche better. I'd go buy one today, but it makes more sense to buy my house in the fall first (mortgage rates are lower that way) then buy the Avalanche after buying the house. There is a caveat here, if ford does something AMAZING with the F-150 this fall, i may go for one of those. 🙂

Can come with a V10 or Cummins Diesel
I wouldn't touch the V-10 with a 10 foot pole unless it was Evadman's 😉 or any gas 3/4 ton or higher, they just suck it down, GM's 8.1 destroys the Ford and Mopar V-10 in towing but it's milage is horrid.

The Cummins is an awesome motor, but I'd wait for the new one about to hit, not only for the power but it's also QUIET 😉 ... man the current cummins rattles your fillings loose... I like the sound of the Turbo only 😉

This is just MY opinion here, but have you considered something like a Suburban or an Expedition? It's been my experience that they work out to be much better for moving computer equipment than a pickup truck.

The load heights are more forgiving, the components are inside of the vehicle, locked down and out of the elements. And they don't slide all the way to the back of the truck making them hard to reach.

i decided against the 3/4's.

i'm gonna go w/ a 5.3 Avalanche, unless Ford REALLY WOWS with the new F-150.

I won't even consider a Dodge.

as the Mileage, I'm averaging 18 MPG right now with my Intrigue so it won't be that big of a hit and i'll have a larger fuel tank. 🙂

vi edit

hmmm. ya, the expedition is nice, my brother drives one, but the avalanche also has lock down capability in the back. it is tall enough to handle most computer equipment and the rubber matting / flooring they have will keep stuff from sliding.

Without a Tonneau cover, how do you lock down the back end? Have you seen how high up that bed sits? Factor that in with having the tailgate in your way, and it's pretty awkward sliding a 70+ pound server box into it.

Like I said, it's just my experience here, but I find a full size SUV to be more practical to hauling both people and sensitive (AND expensive) cargo.

I like the Burban/Expadition option also.... didn't read your posts, thought you were hauling big $h!t 😉

The outside and interior of my truck is clean, my bed though.. :Q
