I have the benefit that the GT500 holds value absurdly well.

Resale value is high on the S4 as well. but I don't care to take that hit in the first year anyway. I could probably get $49-50k for my car which is pretty damn high but it's just not worth it.

Besides Chevy used all new parts in the corvette. I want to give them a year to work out kinks with the mn7 transmission and the overall drivetrain.

Met one dealer today. The internet salesman tried to bring out the attitude that he was doing me a favor by selling me a vehicle and tried to take back things he had communicated in email.

I didn't throw out the dealership entirely, but now I am working with his boss instead ;)

Stingrays are going to be tough to get and there's going to be a lot of gouging, place an order, don't buy from the showroom. The markups are going to be outrageous ($10k+).

I can't believe auto manufacturers allow this to happen. I'm not even sure it's legal in Canada as I have never seen it.

The ones you're likely to see up there for sale are probably going to be on the "used" market. No dealers will be stocking "new" ones, if you get my drift.

You must live in a strange area.

The vette is produced in too large of quantities to sustain any sort of markup (or even MSRP). We're talking nearly 40k per year produced for the 3 or so years after a redesign (then it cuts in half due to lowered demand). Dealers can try for a mark up or MSRP, but the simple economic factor is, it's not an overly premium car.

I was willing to pay MSRP on a ~4k per year produced car because I decided when supply was low, but this one is going to end up being slightly under (not a lot), or no deal.

Yeah. Don't get raped. Just wait six months and buy one without the markup. The same thing happened with the BRZ/FRS and I was at a Toyota dealer the other day and there were about a dozen on the lot.

Vette productions are going to be less for this model year. Realistically dealers are billing msrp right now. You probably will not get sub msrp until 6 months into cycle. might check out corvetteforum.com for more info.

I agree people asking for over MSRP are insane and generally they are vette dealers who only have 1 or 2 allotments. But the going rate for good vette dealers if you don't have a corvette loyalty discount is msrp right now.

I'm only looking for a percent or two under ;) They'll make it back on the trade anyway.

No way I'll be able to cover the tax hit with a private sale.

Ehh your talking about a wash then. They'll either raise the price on trade in etc... And yeah thats the only other downside about flipping so quick you really have to do trade in when you are talking about tax on a $60k car that you paid a year ago.

I'd have to get nearly $5k more in a private sale to cover the tax hit.

I have car ADD. This will be my 3rd in 3 years (4th if you count the daily driver)

I know what you mean.

Keeping my Cobra though. Probably going to get a N55 335i for a new beater (fuck monsoon season) and I've already set plans to not get attached and trade it for a new CTS-V a year or so later and then who knows what.

Can't afford 100 cars or a place to keep them, but want them all anyway? Trade in every year!

Found a dealer not trying to hide an ADM in the trade-in value, so looks good, but it may be decemberish before I can order.

I'm finding two classes of dealers.

1) The ones I would "trust" (as much as one can), who are providing reasonable trade assessments (as well as one can do a few months prior to a purchase), and aren't trying to puff up my opinion of their dealership.

2) Inside the city, I'm starting to believe that the dealers are colluding. They will consistently offer the same insultingly low trade assessment, and prattle on about how great they are for not trying to get an ADM. These have typically been the large dealer chains (I'm sure we all know the ones), and my list here is larger than the first group (luckily the first group even exists). All they are accomplishing is making sure that I never purchase from them, nor will anyone who ever asks me for advice.

In this day and age, with all the information we have available (including lots of "good" dealers who frequent message boards and can tell us if we're in the right ballpark based on our research), does anyone actually fall for this crap?

Yes.

Perfect example are people paying $500 for Zelda limited edition Wii Us and $300 for Pokemon X/Y limited 3DS XL systems on ebay right now while the $299 and $199 pre-orders are STILL open and available and it's not even sold out yet.

People are dumb.

yes because availability of information doesn't mean anything to dumb people who can't light up the spark that tells them to use google. It's a mystery to me.

Independent resource has confirmed my order is in the system correctly and has an allocation. Woot.
