I miss the days when I never used the computer and the internet, anybody else?

I got my first computer when I was in 11th in high school.. now almost 3 years later, i miss the days when I didn't have a computer and the internet.


I was always out having so much fun... usually never home.

But nowadays, I waste so much time browsing web sites and playing games. I also got much lazier than before.


I also missed out on some things during my late high school years, and I lack some social skills. I'm developing my social skills later than usual which were supposed to develop in high school! lol


anybody have similar experiences to share?
 
If I added up all the interesting facts, research, fun and all other information I've gleaned since I started using computers and the Internet it'd probably be about 1/6 of what I know.

And I can GUARANTEE that if the Internet wasn't here, I sure as hell wouldn't be out in the library looking it up.
 
i sometimes think that, but the internet is a superior source of information, i've developed so many of my interests this way, its great.

the way i look at it is.................i hardly watch tv any more, as most people who aren't net addicts do, so there is no harm
 
Honestly I wish I had never ever EVER touched a computer. I would have been healthy instead of learning to be a lazy fvck. I wouldn't have been in great shape instead of nursing alergies and alergy-induced athsma. I never would have had my heart broken over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over, and I would probably still be in the Marines right out of HS.
 
Like acidvoodoo i watch very little tv any more, so I think it's evened itself out. I even cancelled cable and just download the shows I want to see, and watch them at my leisure
 
No way. I was 21 the first time I ever saw the internet. I know way more about lots of things than I did before I got the internet. If I never went online I probably never would have gotten into photography, and that's a huge thing to me now. I go all over the place now looking for things to shoot. I spend loads of time outside actually doing stuff. I don't really watch TV anymore, so I've got that going for me too.
 
I feel like I lost a chunk of my life in front of computers. I remember a lot of great memories before my 'computer years' but nothing spectacular during.

Same here...except it was the third for me. Heck, I'm still using the printer I got back them on my rig. 😛 Computers are a black hole for any and all free time nowadays. I try to stay away from them, but it never works.
 
Sometimes I wonder what I would be doing if there weren't computers. Probaby a car mechanic of some sort.
 
I've thought about this myself, and in all honesty I think I'm a better person because of the internet. True, I probably would be outside more, but I sure as hell wouldn't have so many interests and divirsified hobbies as I do now. It has also opened me up to different people, cultures, and lifestyles, things I wouldn't be able to see playing around in my backyard. As far as the social aspect, I don't think the computer or internet is preventing me from anything. In fact, I can't remember a single time I have refused to go out with friends or to a party because I'm doing something online. The internet will always be there, and it's a great resource for your free time. Though it can be distracting at times, I think it's a great thing.

thank god computers and the internet came. before that, it was wasting my time in front of the TV.
 
Heh.. when I move into my new place, I'm sorely tempted to not get cable or satellite tv, for the simple fact that I watch so little of it anyway that it wouldn't be worth the ~$50/month...
 
Nope. Computers are something I enjoy and something I'm good at. They gave me something to major in in college so unlike most people I didn't switch my major 6 times trying in vain to find something I liked. And unlike a lot of people, I don't think there is anything wrong with having computers as a hobby and/or profession. Sure, if it consumes your whole life maybe it's not too good, but this idea that working on your car is different from working on your computer doesn't make sense to me.
