I don't miss this game. I loved it when it came out but really have no desire to ever suffer through another random encounter game.

Man this may sound sad but I don't give a sh!t.

One of my BIGGEST regrets in my 20yrs of living has been to DELETE the FF7 saves! WTF was I thinking?! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO stupid...

BUT I have some what redeemed myself on that account. My bro who's 9 started to play it about 6 months ago. He has everything and more that I ever had on it when I first played it the Oct/November I got it :D. Got my memory card saved with a bunch of stuff. Have pratically everything on it :D VERY COOL.

So yeah I got to play it again basically and do everything without the the mundane stuff. Well it was alright the 1st time but I really would not like to do it a 2nd time around. Got my bro to level up ages ago in the sunken ship lol. Also got to get th e armour and weapons that gave double and triple materia points or when fighting the boss = level up everything FAST.

Another tip for money is to Master an All command materia and sell it. Easy 1.4mill GP.

Love the game. Definately one of my favorites.

I'll get Advent Children :D

Pretty much got everything... But if you have a DexDrive, you don't need to waste any time doing that stuff.

I never managed to breed a stupid Chocobo with Mountain Walk or whatever the Hell was needed to get Knights of the Round. I even tried following strategy guides and it didn't work. :( My game is as of yet unfinished, this thread makes me want to resume it.

Too bad this might be the end of the classic final fantasys. FF12 has a .hack like battle system (think real time MMRPG), which as good as it could be just isn't final fantasy . . .

I have played all the modern FF's starting at 7 and I must say 7 was/is/and will always be the best.

I loved the materia system, I would absolutly LOVE to see another FF with the materia system. Replayability of FF7 was great, it was the only RPG I ever player 3 times, and Im thinking about playing it again.

I wish they would somehow continue the FF7 saga :(.
And MMORPGs SUCK!, I have them, and I have realtime RPGs too, I was to go into battles, not fight my monters by moving around.

Arhhh I miss the good ole days. Maybe when Im at EB today, Ill pick up a PS2 and get FF7 with it.

you sound like me, I'm such a freak when it comes to where I play my video games. When I move again I plan to spend lots of time creating the perfect video game room

 takes all of 5 seconds to set up a controller, provided you have one - and your post implies that you do.

Whats the better version to play psx or pc? I played through the first time on my playstation but I'm wondering if the pc version was any good

I played both the PC version and PSX version, I played about 2 hours of the PC version then uninstalled it and started on the PSX version for my second time. For some reason the PC takes away the feel for me. I just enjoy the whole console RPG thing more than the PC.

Is that the thing that lets you download saves from the net and put them on your memory card? Comeon people that ruins the game, FF7 is fun to play through and earn the stuff yourself, otherwise it wouldnt be fun, the side quest are the best things.

I'd get the playstation version.

Best scenario? PSX version on PC using an emulator and a ps1 controller using a playstation -> usb adaptor. Then you can actually boost the graphics using certain graphics plugins giving you better looks and convenience with the same playstation feel

I think there is also a 3rd party program that was written for the PC that allows you to boost the graphics using current gen video cards. I have it somewhere burned to a cd, if someone needs it, I'll see if I can find it.

FF7 is the best RPG i've played so far. I remember the days where i'd just sit there for about 8 or 9 hours a day playing it

and it had the best cutscenes!

i wish i still had my FF7 pc cd's... i dunno where they are :(

I loved the story in that game - in my opinion at least it had the best story out of any game I've ever played, Chrono Trigger pulling in a (very) close second. FF7 still is probably my favorite game, even over Half-Life, Halo, and Starcraft if you just evaluate it on one playthrough (if I evaluated it on replay value SC takes the cake by FAR; I've played that game what must have be tens of thousands of times). My only gripe with it was the admitted rush-job done by Square (now Square-Enix); it still turned out great though. One of my favorite parts has got to be the flashback with Zack when you go to the Nibelheim basement after you get Cloud back on Disc 2. Little things like that really help flesh out the story of the game. I also love when you visit Lucrecia and learn her bit on the story. It's those things that make me love FF7.

How exactly would you "boost the graphics"? The background is nothing but a prerendered image, and the character models aren't going to gain any polygons just because you are running it on a better system. The playstation can certainly handle FF7. Besides, isn't it only 640 x 480 resolution for the PC version?

For the emu you can run it at any res really, I typically run it at 1024x768 or 800x600 b/c my gf 2 can't keep up :p What some of the gfx plugins in the emu do is filtering/AA. Not sure if the psx compresses textures, maybe some plugins run them differently.
