Whether you're being soaked by rain or your own sweat it comes up to the same thing, it's miserable!
After working outside in this heat, I pretty much look like someone pushed me into a pool with all my clothes on. 😱

I'm sure as hell ready for some cooler temps (especially when working on gutters / the roof). Although this hot and dry weather we've had has been good for allowing the outside painting to fully cure without a surprise thunderstorm ruining any of it.

our seasonal weather has just started. Looking at a high Friday of 14C. It looks like we won't break 20C for the next 5 days. It has been raining here which is also normal in the autumn for us. The dank smell of rotting leaves and rain.

Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away. 🙂

Holy crap Thanksgiving IS close. Time goes by too fast. It still feels like summer just started even though it's long gone.

Our Thanksgiving is the best Thanksgiving.

Pretty much all crops are done for the year now and harvest is in full swing. I can't wait to get some fresh local produce like cabbage, potatoes, rutabaga, apples, etc...

The best thing to do is celebrate both Thanksgivings!

😀

Its been in the 90's for +80% of the days since late May. F-ing ridiculousness. I guess someone might say I should be thankful it ain't Death Valley, which is true, but the humidity in the mornings and evenings makes it hard to just breath.

This has been a hideous summer in San Antonio, Tx. Usually in summer the humidity will be super oppressive in the morning and night but drops off in the daytime so it only feels like a convection oven outside in the day. But this year the dewpoints would stay >72F all day in the summer so it would feel like a convection oven in the jungle in the hot part of the day.

Right now its 70f outside (Coastal CT) and close to 80 in my apartment with window fans cranking, however overnight supposed to be a 20 degree drop along with several days of crappy rainy weather ahead.

Oh lawd it may be coming to an end ... and for Xmas I get to spend the money on a new AC for the house. Yeehaw!
You got 19 years out of the old unit. I say it was time. And AC install is cheaper in the winter as you can get some deals on old remaining stock.

I'm looking forward to 70s next week.

I just passed the idea to my wife last night about holding off until Spring, if that forecast can be believed. I could then opt for December-February. I'm expecting a quote today, but since I know the guy he may present some options along the lines as you have just suggested.

It is currently 95F in my area of Atlanta. When I checked 5:30PM yesterday it was 97F and at the same time my hometown of Providence, RI was 51F. I difference of 46 degrees. Right now they are 37 Freedom degrees lower. They 'say' tomorrow it'll change with a forecast high of 76F but I'm not putting away the summer clothing. I figure I'll be wearing t-shirt and shorts until Xmas.

It's regular autumn here my friends.

Didn't even get past 12C for the high today. Low is 3C tonight. Looks like it will be a bit warmer for the next few days. Might even hit 18C.

😀

While still in the t-shirt/shorts and running the AC, this was a first for Atlanta. The high for today at my reporting station was 78F (currently 65). I guess the summer heat has finally broke.

Its October and I'm sitting here in t-shirt and shorts running the AC full blast and its past Midnight.

65F - 78F and you have your AC on?!?!?!? Turn it off, no wonder global warming is not comming to an end. 76F - 78F is the temprature that people usually keep their AC set too. There are also places in the world where people who even have a working AC at home dont even use it, and still have a good nights sleep at 80F by just using a fan. By keeping the AC on when it is 65F, all you are doing is just wasting electricity and money on your electric bill.

I even doubt that your AC is making the air in the room cooler right now, it probably is just blowing the air in the room, like fan. Just turn it off, you don't need it right now.

It's 70F where I am, and it does not feel hot at all, no AC, nor even the fan is running.

If you are feeling hot at 65F, I suggest that you go see the doctor as you could be suffering from hyperthermia.

Left my air on the night before last even though it got down to the low 40s. Living upstairs in a brick building in the middle of a parking lot sucks at times. Either way the compressor probably didn't kick in but the fan kicks on every 10 minutes or so for 20 seconds (energy saver mode) and the air felt cool. It was still 75 in my living room. Any hotter and I sweat at night. Last night the air was off but it's still 75 in the room.

I like to look at it this way ... I paid for it. I'll use it in any legal manner I so choose. Also, I get the added benefit of not having kids contaminating the environment and I also telecommute 60% of the time so I am driving even less than most working people. I have pets, either that can contribute to the global demand on food and the supply of waste product. And for some odd reason the various thremostats in my home are a bit tricky. The second floor is set to 69F and cools to about what the 1st floor was cooling at 73-74. I think it is a head unit (on the wall) issue.

But I'll be damned if I am going to pay for my AC and not use it for someone else's f-ing benefit. And just for that I am going to pre-freeze the home for winter. 😛

78F comes up to 25C. I would sure as hell be using the A/C too if it got that hot inside the house. There's no sense in sweating like crazy inside when you actually have A/C. May as well use it.

Adds on the list of "benefits of living in a rental apartment building", no need to be compelled to use AC, as the "in wall" comes for free.

The fact that you living in houses and payed for the unit didn't cross my mind.

Squirrel 78F is not hot.

65F is on the low end of where most AC's compressors kick on at all however keep in mind that they also de-humidify the air even if temps are otherwise comfortable which really helps in terms of comfortable sleep.

In addition I often work 3rd shift and have to sleep during the day when its usually warmer, not to mention that it gets noisy!

I'm convinced that Spring and Fall do not really exist anymore. We still have Summer and Winter, but Spring and Fall have been replaced with these weird weather patterns where the weather rapidly oscillates between Summer and Winter twice a week. You get frost one day, and you're outside in shorts the next.
