I misplaced my Audigy 2 driver CD

Does Creative offer the d/l off there site? I didn't see it but of course some manufactures hide stuff good. Or if it ain't against forum rules could someone send me a ISO of the driver CD? If it is please edit/lock and take it easy on me.

I made a backup of the CD but I was needing HDD space and had to delete it

Their drivers are a PITA. I searched for like an hour one time for SB Live! drivers, and ended up having to get them from another site because it was an OEM card. :|

For some absurdly stupid reason installing Creative drivers requires their driver CD's. I've never understood that, it's not like someone are going to use their drivers without their hardware. Their automatic internet install actually works quite fine.

Not true, I have the Audigy 2 and I have never used any of the cd's included for the driver install or used the Creative Website autoupdater. The drivers and the software updates are available for download at Creatives site.

I have an Audigy2 ZS and have never used the drivers on the CD. Only downloads from the Creative web site.

I think the thing most people are complaining about is the fact that the Creative drivers refuse to install unless you do the CD installer first.

At least they used to.

I got tired of that BS and started using my SoundStorm instead

The URL I posted does not require an Audigy driver cd.

Usually an installation of the original configuration applications is required to update them (duh), so the CD package is still necessary. It can be had via driverheaven.net forum.

The drivers will install on their own, no cd needed. The cd is needed if you want to install the Creative apps like the sound control panel, soundfonts, speaker calibration ect ect.

Windows does provide a control pannel.

if you are still looking, use winrar/7-zip/etc. to open the driver UPDATE self-extracter from the creative website. Instead of opening the Webinstaller inside the archive, open the setup.exe in one of the enclosed folders. This will work for any of their application/drivers.

Or, just search for a setup file that works on the archive, i may not be totally right about the naming of the files, but i have used the method.

I've said it before and I'll say it again... it's mind boggling that those who would never consider forgoing installation of viddy controls would do so for audio. If you avoid making basic configuration choices then you are left with the defaults, which obviously ain't gonna be ideal. It doesn't make sense to buy hardware (audio or video) with a bunch of features and options if you ain't gonna use 'em or even choose the right ones for you and the rest of your system. A couple Audigy things that come to mind immediately are the software DD/DTS decoders and CMSS 3D that are enabled by default but most folks prolly want to turn off.
