I was at my inlaws house and my wife's brother got this for Christmas.

After setup, my two brother in laws and I, as well as my brother in laws fiance and occasionally my wife played the thing pretty much all day.

I played (fake plastic) drums and sang, it was pretty fun albeit, a bit embarrassing. Although no one seemed to care how stupid we all looked.

The customizable rockers were a really nice touch, and the view of the band and crowd feedback was pretty awesome.

The only thing I was a little nervous about was whether the drums would hold up to a long term beating...I mean, it was pretty easy to get carried away and start wailing the shit out of those things.

If you want to save some money (if your buying a console for that one game), that game is also available on a ~$130 PlayStation 2.

It is alot different on the PS2. No customization, no online, no DLC which is the best part. That may be fine for you but just know what you are getting.

Yeah, I saw it was on PS2, which would be cheap. But it sounds like a lot of the stuff is stripped out.

The only other xbox360 game that I really ever wanted was Dead Rising.

That game is tons of fun. I really want to buy it but can't justify paying $160 for a game (although it's worth it with everything that comes with it).

Oh, and you'll be surprised how much you'll be playing the 360 once you buy it. There are lots of good games out for it.

I honestly wouldn't have gotten it if I didn't have GH2 or my wife didn't get me GH3 (on 360), but I've got 2 guitars and bought a logitech mic for 30 bucks and got the standalone game. It's honestly a great game and I like the set list and DLC quite a bit more than GH3.

My goal right now is to unlock whereever Foreplay/Long Time is.

I got Rock Band for xmas and absolutely love it. I got it mainly for the drums, as I've played each and every GH to death and was getting a bit tired of it. It's a blast just going through the solo tour, and even better in a group. Not sure I'd buy an entire console for it, but close.

I wouldn't worry about the drums that much. I know I personally bang the crap out of them and we've had quite a few 6 hour+ sessions with several different people and the drums are just as good as when we opened them (the kick thing though is taking a beating).

I would even say the sticks are in worse condition than the drums.

Yeah, the sticks were already looking pretty beat to shit after 1 day...but I'm not worried about those since you can just buy a new pair of sticks.

I modded my drums with the foam and felt mod so I can safely bang them even harder and it is still way quieter than they were.

Get a 360! I used to be a PS2/PS3 fanboy but I gave the 360 a shot and I'll never go back. XBL seals the deal for me...

I'd be inclined to agree if it weren't for two factors: you need people to play with to get the most enjoyment out of it, otherwise it's just another GH-like solo game regardless of what instrument you play, and the price of admission at this point of $170.
