Just to clarify guys yes I know I was in the wrong by blocking the intersection. I misjudged the speed of the line of cars I was following in relation to the timing of the light ahead of the light I was passing through. MY BAD! But FYI these kind of things happen in high traffic highly congested areas.

What got me was the reaction of the SUV driver who saw how the traffic was flowing and persisted to sit behind me and honk her horn non-stop knowing I couldn't do anything about it, then she proceeds to pull up beside me and if her hands weren't full handling the cellphone and the steering wheel I'm sure would have flip me off instead of sitting there screaming at me from within her car.

Geeze some of you make yourselves out to be perfect drivers.
--//edit 2--

So I work in Washington DC and commute to Annapolis MD daily. Traffic here sucks and the drivers are just as bad (crappy angry impatient drivers). But my actual commute isn't that hard I495 to 50 to highway 665 and I'm home ~30 miles one way.

So today I deviate a little to go to the bank, I used a side road to hop onto 665. It's a busy T intersection My light is green to turn left so follow a line of cars in and get stuck in the middle of the intersection because of traffic. My light turns red and I'm still stuck in the middle of the intersection.

Suddenly this SUV who's light just turned green starts bearing down on her horn. Not just a nice friendly beep either, but full blown body weight completely on the horn honk.

Traffic starts to move I pull into my lane and the biatch comes roaring right beside me, cell phone in ear, yelling what I'm sure were expletives in my direction. Then roars off.

Now I'm usually a pretty calm guy, but this suv driving, cellphone talking, hag from hell pushed a button. Having had my window down the whole time to enjoy the pleasant weather I pull up beside her at the next light, point at her with my left index finger, bring my left hand to my ear while making believe it's a cellphone, start mock yapping into it while giving my best impersonation of a witch face, then proceed to flip her off for the entire light.

She roars off and I make the turn to my home.

You guys think I over did it? Her honking startled a minivan next to me and almost caused an accident.

--edit--
diagram
The lights directly proceeding the T intersection turned red causing the backup. There's very little room between the two lights. It's a crappy light setup with the timing of the lights all jacked.

You should make sure there's enough room for you to make it through the intersection before pulling out.

No offense, but I hate it when fvkers think they can go into heavy traffic intersections just because the light is green only to get stuck in the damn intersection...how about wait until there is room to actually exit the damn intersection before you enter?

We need a diagram here. If you were in the part of the T where the road ended and then turned left, without blocking traffic going in the other direction, who cares? Which traffic were you blocking?

there looked to be room, but the light right after the intersection (there's very little room between the two) changed.

my general personality is to give people the benefit of doubt, as in it was complete accident that you were stuck in the intersection. but after years of witnessing how many shit drivers there are, i think everyone out there is an idiot and will do whatever they can get away with.

OK, well we've all been in that position. Traffic engineers could do a better job of light timing, thats for sure.;)

You were in the wrong. In her situation I would have drove up to you and layed on the horn. You assholes are what make traffic so bad. Fuck you!

It doesn't matter WHY the intersection was backed up it doesn't excuse you from being a fucking retard and blocking the intersection. Don't try to justify your poor driving. It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people assume you're an idiot then to post a thread and let everyone know what a fucknut you truely are.

Why? It's not like he was driving through the intersection and suddenly 2 or 3 cars materialized out of nowhere to create a back up, he drove into the intersection knowing it was backed up.

I hate that too. Wait at a forever long light, get the green, only to have the next light that's maybe 75ft away turn red. Happens all the time at the freeway overpass/on-ramps here. Drives people insane.

Then you have the guy behind you peeping at you because the light is green and you're not moving.

No matter what, its a loose loose situation.

I can't stand impatiant drivers. Worse is tail gaters. I tend to do 5-10 over the speed limit, but try to still obey it even though nobody else does. Sometimes I'll be 10 over and have a tail gater. I purposely ensure to slow down to the speed limit. :D

Per the diagram, your 6 wheeled car was flipped on its side diagonally blocking traffic and preventing other vehicles, such as the pod-shaped red vehicle, from passing. Therefore I conclude that you are in the wrong.

No, but really, what's this lady's problem? She'd be unable to move forward either way. That one extra car length is going to make a big difference somehow?

After looking at the diagram, you're officially a jackass. Just 'cause you got the green doesn't mean you should enter the interaction if there are no room for you on the side of the intersection. I hate people who fuck up the intersection 'cause they see the green and block everything.

This is where you lost my sympathy. You do not block an intersection. If you're in the intersection when the light turns red, you've done something wrong. You need to be aware enough that you don't get stuck fully in the middle of a turn like that. IMO, you are at fault here.

That said, the lady over-reacted. It's not her place to police other people's driving and she should have just let it go.

Or, if the OP hadn't been there, she'd have moved forward one car length and been the intersection blocking asshole. Yeah, it makes no difference either way. Unfortunately not enough people look further down the road than the rear end of the car in front of them.

yeah stop smoking the hash pipe, grab some eye drops, and read. it looked like I'd make it through, but the light right after the intersection turned red causing a backup. Not to mention the next light and the light after that.
