I may have to get back into DAoC soon...

I was looking at the Camelot Herald and noticed Mythic's plans for a new server; basically to transfer all the characters from the clustered servers into one big server. Imagine playing on a DAoC server with 2500-300 people at prime time? And now that ToA is a HELL of a lot more tolerable than it was in it's original form, I may have to resubscribe when this happens. It's still my favorite MMORPG of all-time, bar none.

Way too little, way too late.

They should have proceeded with the "origins" rules set server a year ago.

They should also open a UO Origins server. That would give new life to both of those games.

I reactivated my account when they brought in New Frontiers. I quit when ToA was launched cause I couldn't stand the "trails" and all that grinding nonsense.
What really got me was the Frontiers. I straight up hated it and didn't care much for it. RvR to me changed and since that was the end-game, I never looked back.

DAoC was my first ever MMORPG. I met some great people there and busy'ed myself with crafting. I believe I was the first character to reach Tailor - cloth to master, that I can recall. I did so by cheating and I'm proud of it. I found this awesome program that was basically a key hitter on a timer. I made lots of cash making those hinges. Ahhh the good times. I bounced around from guild to guild and thats when I lost most of the buddies. All in all, it WAS a great game. Moving on...

I wouldn't consider it cheating lol. I did the same shit in SWG and power leveled every crafting profession while trying to unlock Jedi.

props to a good game in the day

i'll never play it again though, pretty sure i will never have the original feeling when ppl were all like lv 30 out in the frontier and there were a lot of players and we were all new

I remember those days, when they had 2500-3500 on a single server 🙁

I loved that game but probably will never go back.

the low level Battlegrounds!! First taste in RvR..... oh do I remember that feeling. It was a really great game PvP wise until people got bored and they had to do something to spice it up. Too bad it was a little too late. Palomides server - Albion RIP.

I played DAoC for many years. 6+ all told. I wont be going back. Like someone said too little too late. None of the game's balance problems are fixed so nothing has really changed. The only difference is that now everyone will play on the same server. I remember a time when people asked Mythic to do just that but Mythic said they couldnt do it because it would be too hard but yet they can do it now? Most of the better players have left and moved on. There's no fixing it at this point. This latest move is just Mythic's last one before the last of the players finally leave altogether. Mythic ran it into the ground. I'd rather remember the game for what it once was and not what it has become. I have fond memories of the game and friends made there. I'd like to keep it that way.

If they end up offering a free trial for returning players, will some of you guys resub and check it out?

I would just to see my character again. Thats how FFXI got me back into it. Return Campaign. Ontop of that, I was given an anniversary ring which gave me insane exp bonus for a period of time. Was a good welcoming gift ^_^

If they made an "Origins" server with the old frontiers, no TOA, and did a texture pack with better graphics I would try it.

Can you still kick people off a cliff with a horse?

I believe that was conan.

in the sea of failed MMOs does it really even matter?

Note: I am not saying DAOC was failed.... it is just way past its time
