I May Be a Bad Person, But . . .

I disagree with the statement in this article:
"The more plastic Madonna looks, the more human she becomes. That’s what I kept thinking when I looked at her face."

My reaction is just the opposite. You know, I realize that, in general, women, as they age, remain slaves to an impossible standard of still looking like they're 22, and that famous women in the entertainment industry remain under the harsh glare of the spotlight as they age, and yet, I'm not giving Madonna a pass on the outcome of her choices here.

Of course, Madonna would be personally devastated to learn of my reaction. I guess it's a good thing she doesn't give a damn what judgements come out of my geezer ass.

Still, FFS, girl. 😱

Wow. I had not seen recent photos of her in quite a few years, and it was pre- most of that work she had done. The only thing that looks like Madonna on her now IMHO is her eyes. I can still see her eyes, but the rest of her face just looks plastic to me now.

Gross. She needs to stop trying to still be 23. It might've still worked when she was in her 40s but she's into her mid 60s now.

It must me some sort of weird psych issue where women tend to get the same "enhancements" like lips, cheeks, lips, etc. I mean they all look basically alike and all hideous.

It's not just Madonna. This shit is endemic. How can they possibly like what they see in the mirror. I'm all for creating your own reality but only to the point where there aren't obvious conflicts. So you can believe that bus is full of fairies as long and you don't try to stand in front of it.

reminds me of the puppet from saw

Thanks for that! 🙄 😉

I got NO problem with women in suits. Some do it a lot better than others though.

Though I don't agree with who she worked for or what she did, Hope Hicks kind of set the standard and upped the bar quite a bit from Marlene Dietrich and Lauren Hutton.

Disagree. Marlene Dietrich set the gold standard, imho. Sorry, but Dietrich makes (No) Hope Hicks look like a waiter. Dietrich oozed sexuality, Hicks is a cardboard cutout of kewpie doll "prettiness" . . . again, mho.

Not to mention, attractiveness for me is also a matter of character. Dietrich, though German, did everything she could to support the GIs fighting Hitler, while Hicks was a vapid mouthpiece for the Orange Menace.

And . . . Lauren Hutton? For me, there's just something inexplicably alluring about being slightly cross-eyed and gap-toothed, no lie!

Plastic is plastic. It shows in photos; pretty obvious Priscilla Presley has had work done and it is not pleasing to see.

But the M thing up there? I never found anything special. I never got the obsession even back in the 80s and 90s at the height of it all. There may be one song I've heard.

I think Maddona looked her best and the most human in her recent Mother of Creation series of NFTs.

Of course it might be considered somewhat NSFW (it is Madonna)

For a site like this I think we can all appreciate Madonna as "Mother of Technology"

Madonna songs I played on my radio show (once, except Angel, twice) way back when (in the 20th century):

Material Girl
Vogue
Angel
Drowned World/Substitute For Love
