I managed to score some older PC's

What about any of the PIII systems? I'm basically interested in anything over 700 MHz with more than 128 or 256 MB of RAM and preferrably a CD writer.

All 100% FREE.

That's the "refurbishment" section of our operations floor. That's just what's waiting to be tested/installed/repackaged. What you see there are...

~300 - P3-700 Compaq Deskpro
~300 - P4-1700 Compaq EVO
~15 - Dual P3 1.0 HP Visualize
~20 - Dual P4 Xeon 2.0 HP X4000
~20 - Dell Dimension 4100 (P3 1.0)
~20 misc systems P3 700MHz or greater
~4785843843843832 17" CRTs

.... We have over 900 systems in our "ready-to-go" inventory, in addition to all of that.

We THROW AWAY (well, disassemble and sell for scrap) machines better than you people in this thread are bragging about.

What does "All 100% FREE" mean? I'm confused. I'll take some off your hands if thats the case 😛

Free to us. Free to you, too, if they're to be used by a tax-emempt non-profit organization and you jump through our simple hoop to allow our papertrail to at least look legitimate.

You write, on some of the organization's letterhead (if available), a cutesy little letter requesting computers. You don't tell us spec, you tell us the USAGE, and which accessories you'll need. Naturally, you also include contact info. You enclose proof of 501(c)(3) tax exempt status, and mail it to us (fax could possibly be arranged, and we've also taken email, so long as the tax emempt proof is attached) - then you wait, and in a few days, you receive a phone call telling you to come pick up your new Ubuntu-laden computer(s) (or arrange shipping). At present, ALL requests are recieving Compaq Deskpro EN's (P3-700, 128mb RAM, 10gb HDD) unless the usage is extremely extenuating (in which case, we'll add more RAM, HDD, or bump you to a P4 1.7-based system, or if it's a server role, we'll find something that doesn't require a keyboard to finish POST).

Oh, and we also do laptops. There's a pretty substantial waiting list - we've had people wait UP TO A YEAR in the past, it averages 3-6 months now, because the damn things so rarely work.

PM for more, if you're actually serious, or actually feel like pretending you have an IRS tax status you don't (and if that's your game, do yourself a favor and don't come right out and say it. Seriously. We have to screen out the obvious frauds. If it gets past us, it's your ass if the IRS gets wind and wants blood.)

That last line is something you might want to edit out there, they don't normally play on that sorta stuff. I'm sure you know this stuff better than I do though, just didn't want you getting nailed by any snitches here, not that there are any, but you never know 😉

That said, the little Apple 2e up on the shelf by itself would be sweet for our "pc museum" we're working on. I'll fax over my info for my non profit escort service that assists runaway teenage girls, it's called "Pimp a Ho Foundation"

I edited to clarify. No blood on our hands, since we don't actually perform any tax-based transactions, we just use the tax exempt status to determine eligibility. We have no legal responsibility to ensure legitimacy of the provided documents, but you damn well better bet that if the IRS wanted to leaf through our records and check them for frauds, we'd be both legally and morally mandated to let them.

It is also our responsibility to, if we spot what we believe, based on a surface inspection, to be a fraudulant document, report it to the appropriate authorities for further verification. We've done it before, and we will undoubtedly do it again.
