I make over $100k/yr. I got my first credit card (could not get approved before) about five months ago. Credit limit? $300. The credit card wasn't any good either. Just capital one platinum.

I went through their automated credit request thing a couple months ago and got it increased to a whopping $800.

What the fuck.

I'm trying to get other credit cards but I can't. Yet, I know people who have gotten credit cards before with $3000+ lines immediately with little to no history and with lower salaries... Yet, me with a salary that is larger than most American families cannot get anything.

Fuck this system. So ridiculous.

Do you have shit credit? or no credit?

How did you make it through life this far without establishing a line of credit?

When I was 18 (1998) and worked part time for like $9 an hour I think my credit line was around 1000 or so ...

You need to build up credit. Buy stuff and pay it off. Get an Amazon.com card and get the reward points from Amazon while you build up your credit. It would also give you some breathing room in case of emergency.

All I can say is, I have no current credit cards, nor do I want them. Trying to pay off old ones because unless you can control the impulse buying (and I can't) credit cards are a mistake. Best to just pay cash. If it is a building your credit issue to buy a car or house, you can get what they call a "secure" line of credit.

You can buy a suit online with a $300 credit limit. Not a good one, but still.

Come on son. This is Tridentboy we are talking about, not some ATOT scrub who can't afford a $100 trash can. He wouldn't buy a $300 suit. His suit is bespoke.

There is an easy answer to this, he still uses his parents credit card.

There is a certain happiness found in sitting 18 inches off the front end of the TV set, wearing PJs with feet, quietly munching down bowl after bowl of Fruit Loops while cartoons roll by. Eventually my wife makes me do something useful. :(
Your fate is shared by many.:(
