Tis true that it doesn't look like much, but this is my first attempt at making sourdough from scratch, starter and all. The recipe is in a book by Jeff Hamelman and it's perhaps the best eating loaf I've made, although it certainly doesn't look like the pictures do in books.

Bread isn't "just" though. I like this quote about it.

"Good bread is the most fundamentally satisfying of all foods; and good bread with fresh butter, the greatest of feasts."
