Yes, it sucks. I made 141,000 and have 3 kids and a wife. I paid 21,000 dollars in taxes and only getting 1,800 back.

That doesn't sound right to me but for the first time this year, I don't get all of the child tax credit for all of my kids, there was also something else I was no longer eligible for.

Still, that doesn't sound right. I already filed, but I'm thinking of taking it somewhere to see if something is wrong.

/agree as well.

Something in the tax laws changed between 2010 and 2011.

When the IRS suggest both parents [working] enter "0" and take out about $100 per bi-weekly check on the w4 to break even for next tax year - something is incredibly wrong with the system.

The issue a lot of us have is there is a big difference between "can't" and "won't/don't".

I grumble every time I'm at walmart when somebody is paying for groceries with a link card (IL food stamp system) and talking on a brand new iPhone.

Can't buy groceries but can afford a $100 a month phone & data plan.

Nice.
How much does smoking cost?

How much does eating out cost?

How much does booz cost?

How much does a home phone cost?

If you don't spend money on any of the above it isn't hard to see where $100 a month can appear in the budget of a family of four.

Exactly how impoverished "should" you be to receive support? Because you can be well under the poverty line and still smoke, drink, eat out and have a home phone.

I made over 130K last year...Just did my taxes last night. I'm so pissed how much tax I'm going to have to pay. I'm no longer eligibile for many deductions. I haven't even gotten to the AMT part yet!!!!!! Depending how this pans out I might switch political parties.....

Wow you made more than 3 times what I did.
Hope things are better taxes wise this year. 😉

I checked my last pay stub and my YTD was about 71k. About 10k over my base, pretty good! It's not 100k or 130k, but I'm well off and while being super rich is always fun, money is not everything and I have more than enough money to be comfortable.

I still have to check this week's pay as it's technically the last I think. It's probably the number that will appear on my T4 which is the actual amount I made this year. Right now 71k is just an estimate.
