If I were to do this in a fictional story my fictional V6 mustang would be pretty much topped out at 100 and I'd burn something out a mile later if I didn't find myself hanging in my seatbelt wondering why the red octagon sign said 'POTS'.

On a straight road with no limiter, and a decently aerodynamic shape, and a transmission that would allow it, 167 would be possible in most cars over 200 hp id imagine?

I know I've seen videos of an unmodded tiburon V6 6 speed getting up to 150 or so and its less than 200 hp

Wrecking and dying.... would teach.... the dead person.... a lesson????

He was on an empty road, what was the real harm?

If true, you're a self centered douche.

Absolutely. Even if I crashed into a minivan full of children, I'd be dead, so it would matter else happened. As far as I'm concerned, the world ceases to exist after I die.

OK, now you've made it painfully obvious that this thread is flamebait.

So did you tell your mommy what you did while driving her Volvo? I bet she'd be pretty mad if she knew you were out late avoiding arrest.

Well, if there's a hereafter he could go there knowing it was his own selfishness and stupidity that killed him, and nothing else. Plus it's yet another lesson to those that remain.

You never know for sure what's what, the unexpected is always possible. No one has a right to endanger another person for their own egocentrism. Ever. Period. Not to mention that the police are involved, and were on the road...and if they lost control in pursuit that would also be his fault. Never mind the costs involved in investigating. And the sorrow of family and friends (not that I can imagine anyone morning someone who would do this). All because he's a pitiful, small-minded, tiny-donged, self-absorbed loser. *shrug* At least that's how I see it.

I've gone 100mph down an empy road at 2am in PA, long straight flat road, middle of woods , no houses businesses, offshoots, or intersections for miles....

Change that to a super highway wide open with plenty of time to see any other vehicles, I still dont see how that is super dangerous (Im not addressing the running from the cops, im addressing the fact that he was endangering no ones life but his own at the time)

You're an idiot for posting this.
Fiction or non-fiction...you were going to get flamed for it either way.

I guess it's an issue of perception and experience. I've been with too much roadkill in the ER. I've seen too many people dead. I've heard too many stories from police and emergency services. I've been surprised too many times when I thought I was in control. And I definitely always try to see things from the perspective of others first. From the perspective of others, reckless driving (without a cause) is stupid, and dangerous.

Most of them don't bother to give chase anymore, even.

Shut up.

Mine's clipped 116 at the quarter mile mark. I promise it doesn't stop at 140.

Another local Lightning owner got tagged on the George Bush tollway for doing over 160mph by a state trooper. He caught up to him when he stopped to pay the toll. Just got a straight speeding ticket, written for 160-something miles per hour.

That sucks. I've never been ticketed about 90mph. Plenty of 88mphs though. Always in the same place too. About twice a year. Probably for the rest of my life.

I've gotten into a drag race on a stretch of 121 North in Grapevine, with a Mustang Cobra, and did 140mph, which is the governor on my truck. I imagine I'd go to jail for that.

But I live my life for me, for me to have fun, so to hell with the law, or other people, or anything that gets in my way.

sorry, just took from an earlier post of yours in 2004 that you had a governor that limited you to 140
