I hate that I cant watch youtube on my BB pearl. It makes me want an Iphone, but it's to large for me. the smaller the phone the better for me.

I had to look-up tethering, but how would they know if you were doing that?

Packet sniffing or just looking at usage. I have heard of people getting caught. AT&T breaks it down on your bill as isp.cingular (tethered via laptop) traffic versus wap.cingular traffic (phone browser, even if I set it to emulate IE), so they definately know.

Unlike with copper wires and fiber optic cables, you can't easily expand wireless bandwidth. They have a finite band of the spectrum, and that is shared by everyone. I wonder what's going to happen as data plans become more popular and the phone companies notice what cable companies have noticed - 1% of their customers use 90% of their bandwidth. They could make the cells smaller by building more towers, or they could throttle and limit usage. Hmmm...
