Unlimited data plans are at least $30/mo. That is most definitely not $0

Call display
Unlimited Email/IM/Data/Text/Voicemail/1000 Daytime minute, Early Evening/Weekends Super bundle 45$.

So not free , but, if I didn't have unlimited data plans..

Plus, I don't get charged roaming fees for using the web anywhere I can get reception. 🙂

My unlimited data add-on is $15/month with Sprint.

I'm about to get that when I renew my plan I think. Some services *ahemVerizonahem* offer just unlimited texting for that amount.

Sprint ftw

AT&T is unlimited unless you have tethering, which then drops it to 5GB.

I dont think so. I think its all capped at 5gb no matter what.

they wont cut you out though, I think they just charge you premium prices per mb

I just reviewed this a couple of days ago... it's unlimited unless you have tethering like iamwiz82 said. Whether AT&T will actually cancel above the 5GB mark for "unlimited" users... it wouldn't surprise anyone either way.

I have tethering, and I'm precariously close to 5GB this month. 🙁

I tether on Alltel and use like 20GB/mo, never had any problems. 😛

Verizon recently bought them, though, so they'll probably stick us with a 5GB/mo cap.

Yeah, Alltel was one of the last remaining with unlimited tethering. Sprint's is unlimited for business customers, but not personal accounts. (Not sure if SERO was totally unlimited broadband)

Too bad I have Verizon, complete assholes that charge through the roof for everything because they know they have the best service/coverage overall.

I had to look-up tethering, but how would they know if you were doing that?

Packet sniffing or just looking at usage. I have heard of people getting caught. AT&T breaks it down on your bill as isp.cingular (tethered via laptop) traffic versus wap.cingular traffic (phone browser, even if I set it to emulate IE), so they definately know.
