I love this car!!

Oooh, how sexy the lines of 4 doors strapped to the body of a 'tank like monster'. Lets everyone around it know: "I'm a passenger car, I can hold 6 people comfortably, ph33r my 1337/\/355!"

Well, the old Impalla SS was nice, but what do you do when the road curves? While they are undeniably fast, they are far, far overweight IMO. I prefer something with a little less mass, 2,000 lbs or less ideally.

2000lbs or less? Jeez, you're gonna be out of luck as far as street legal cars go unless you pick up a Mini Cooper or something 😉

The lighter, the better - that's why the Spirit R/T will dust that brick of a car (don't get me wrong, I love the SS too, but it's by no means the fastest).

yeah, thats why police drive similar models, because they are so overweight and cant handle corners. 😕
Those Impalas were VERY cool cars.

The police drive them because they need a full size car. There simply isn't enough storage space in smaller, better handlig cars for them to be as suited for police business as a Caprice or a Crown Vic. While I'll admit that the SS took corners quite well for a car it's size, that does not change the fact the it weighed well over 3,000 lbs. It's an unfortunate law of physics that heavier objects tend not to be as nimble as lighter objects. I'm willing to bet that almost any well driven small sporty car would beat a police cruiser down a twisty road. Of course, that's a moot point because as an officer I know says, "You can't outrun the ol' Motorola.". Police also use these cars because they are built heavily and can take the harsh use that they see, a small, light car would not handle the stress of poilce use nearly as well. Thr SS grew out of the philosophy that you make a car faster by using a more powerful engine, whereas I subscribe to Colin Chapman's philosophy, "For speed, add lightness.", it worked for Lotus.

Different car, similar body.

<< this Impala SS will run all over you ricers...got it!!??! >>

Not really - there's plenty of imports that'd be able to beat the SS in the 1/4, don't get me wrong, that's a big accomplishment for such a large car.
