I love the sounds that frogs make at night

I'm a grad student, so I live in the subsidized graduate apartments on campus. They're really nice, although they look superficial as all hell (Southern California, can't expect much). I'm lucky enough to be on the edge of the community, and my window faces toward an undeveloped strip of land where frogs can be heard at night.

I don't know what it is about frogs, the ribbiting is just so relaxing.

I agree they make a comforting sound. I also like rain on a tin roof. Crickets are OK too.

My house backs up to a pond. I better like the sound of frogs or I wouldn't be able to sleep 9 months out of the year.

Your apartment looks superficial? You mean it only wears designer clothes and plays with its hair too much?

The only thing better than the sound of frogs croaking at night is the sound of frog legs hitting the hot frying pan. Yummy, they truly are tasty ...

I live in Indiana and we're currently being nuked with snow. This made my buddy comment on one of the many reason why he hates our winters. No froggy sounds in the evening.

Some of those sounds are probably coming from toads as well. When we lived in the city, I dug a pond in my backyard (only about 4 feet deep). My neighbors commented how nice it was at night when there were 3 or 4 of them in the pond, doing their mating calls.

About a week later, and a pond with a population in the dozens of toads, they asked, "is there something you can do to get rid of most of those?"

?In England Smoky the Bear is not the forest fire prevention representative. They have Smacky the Frog. It?s just like a bear, but it?s a frog. I think it?s a better system, I think we should adopt it. Because bears can be mean, but frogs are always cool. Never has there been a frog hopping toward me, and I thought ?man, I?d better play dead. Here comes that frog?? You never say here comes that frog in a nervous manner. It?s always optimistic. Hey here comes that frog, al-right. Maybe he?ll come near me so I can pet him, and stick him in a mayonnaise jar, with a stick and a leaf, to recreate what he?s used to. And I?m pretty sure I?d have to punch some holes in the lid, because he?s damn sure used to air. Then I can observe him, and he won?t be doing much in his 16 ounce world.?

I miss the frogs croaking. This last summer a tree frog managed to find it's way into the old hot tub before I took the hot tub out. I have no clue where in the world a tree frog came from. It's super dry out here, no water for miles and mostly hot dry wheat fields around. I can't figure out how he got there. But he would live under the old cover where he was protected and ribbit. At the end of summer I cut up the hot tub and threw it away. There was no sign of the frog though. I wonder where he went. There is no water to go to anywhere.

My moms bushiness used to get tree frogs from outside. They would find there way across the parking lot, under the door sill and into the bathroom. I'd scoop them up in a cup and drop them off at a pond in some other place or town.

I wish I lived near a pond or had one in my backyard.

In the sense that the complex is made of maybe 50 buildings and they all look identical. You can tell they were going for "Look, it's just a nice housing community!" but fucked it up by making every building identical.

I walked past a plastic rose bush this morning. That's right, it was made of plastic. It looked decent enough from a distance, but up close it was just stupid.

It seems everyone agrees, frogs are great animals. They make nice noises, they look cool, and they taste great! Why aren't frogs more popular?
