I love scotch. Scotchy, scotch, scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly...

Wanna hang out sometime? lol

I agree that it is an acquired taste. I started out with cheap irish whiskey...moved into some scotch...but when i worked at a bar i used to sit with the owner and have a decent scotch once in a while. He got me hooked on it.

.... shhhh, underneath those boxes lay emptied bottles ;p

(actually, only the Laphroaig is all gone 🙂)

Islay malts >*

The 12 year Macallan is good too. I'd put it on the lower tier of the good malts though 😉

Bowmore or Talisker 17 year ftmfw.

same. hmm...Lagavulin. it's been too long.

I'm a fan of the Highland malts myself, although tonight I'm drinking the Coors Light of Scotch, JW Red. I also finished off a fifth of Bushmill's 16YO Irish Whiskey last week and that was a sad day.

Should take a picture of my collection sometime...

Irish Whisky
- Jameson
- Bushmill 10YO

Blends:
- JW Black
- JW Green

Single Malts:
- Glenlivet 12YO
- Glenlivet 15YO French Oak
- Glenfiddich 12YO
- Glenmorangie Port Wood Finish
- Talisker 12YO
- Clynelish 14YO

The Clynelish is by far my favorite in my current collection. I am saving up for another bottle of Bushmill 16YO Irish Whiskey ($75 in WA... 🙁) and probably a bottle of Dalwhinnie or Oban for some new blood. Will eventually buy a new bottle of JW Red but it's not high on my priority list. Bushmills is also selling an anniversary edition which I'm eying, but I think it's a bit too much for me to afford currently.

I may have to try scotch again. I did about 25 years ago and it tasted like burnt rubber. Don't remember the brand and I haven't tried it since.
I prefer Maker's Mark though I do like BushMill's.

Meh. Glenlivet and Glenfiddich is garbage.. the 18 year fiddich is not bad, but junk compared to other 18 year single malts.

Just bought a bottle of Glenmorangie Private Reserve from the duty free World of Whiskeys store at Heathrow T3. Havent popped it yet, but will be doing so this weekend.

And if you are really looking for a treat, for around $150 you can get the special 17 yr Auchentoshan ... Got this on my last trip to England and still have half the bottle left. It is superb.

On recommendation from petrusbroder, I got a bottle of Balvenie single malt 12 year doublewood (he actually recommended the 21 year portwood). Good stuff, especially with a little water and let to air out for a while in the glass. I still prefer vodka, but it's good stuff.

i just found my bottle of Glenmorangie last night... giving it away as a gift this weekend.. going to london in 2 weeks to buy more.. hahah

I've tried a few times to drink Scotch, I just can't do it. It tastes like burnt wood, and the burn from the alcohol is just too much for me. I'll stick to beer, wine, and gin and tonics. I kind of wish I could like it, but I just can't enjoy it.

Indeed. I was eyeing a bottle of Lagavulin a few days ago, but the price tag kept me away. I'll give in eventually 😛

I picked up some Balvenie for my dad recently, I think it was the 15 yr though. A bit of water and you can really enjoy the flavors.

loldoublewood.

I was waiting for something that I've heard of as I'm not an avid Scotch drinker and really only know what I've seen at parties and whatnot. I have tried Balvenie and found it to be good, although again, I've got little Scotch experience.
