I'll second that. Money well spent. Only complaint I had was no heatsinks on the ram or a decent one on the core. So I fixed that and added tweakmonster tin coated ramsinks and a thermaltake crystal orb..now it looks good! Hehe

That's great because mine sucks ass!!! Mine is going right back to the store and I'll happily go back to my GF2 Pro. :| I think the Radeon 8500 might have an issue with the 761 northbridge. Sh!t, I can't even install my AGP miniport drivers. If I do the screen gets all jacked up! However, when I'm playing games now (without the mini port drivers installed) if I look to the right to quickly, I get SERIOUS choppiness at settings my GF2 Pro had no problems with. Like I said, since other people are not having problems like mine, I'm just going to assume it is some compatibility with my system and I'll just go back to my GF2 Pro. After all, it wasn't such a bad card. :(

No problem with my 761 northbridge here, and the computer has been on non-stop for almost 2 weeks since the installation.

Either there is a new bios for the KG7 or maybe is because of the ATi drivers.

I've got the newest BIOS installed. Also, with a FRESH Windows 2000 install w/ SP2 and VIA 4in1 (except for the AGP drivers) loaded, if I install the miniport drivers I CAN NOT install the Radeon drivers. It just won't let me. It gives me some funky error. :|

Well i have the KG7 also and My 8500 runs great... minus the bad textures in FS2002 and the lockups in ghost recon. but then again i had problems with the radeon first go around and in a metter of 2 months everything worked fine. I would say that maybe you have a bad card... although i have not heard of any yet that doesn't mean something didn't happen to yours(double negative:). if you did not remove the Nvidia driver completely first I have heard of people having problems over at rage3d's forum.. you might want to ask over there if anyone else is having the problem maybe they will give you some help... assumiong a card is crap just because you can't figure it out is pretty ignorant though...

good luck..

Ya, that is exactly what I did. I have reinstalled three times to get this thing working and I'm not about to do it a forth time. There should be NO reason why this card is not working properly. As a matter a fact I get pretty good 3Dmark2001 results, 7000+ but the choppiness I just can't live with. I've tried just about everything. You have a Radeon and you are happy with it, fine. I'm getting a card I KNOW will work on my system, my GF2 Pro. All I do know is that the Radeon DOESN'T like it when I install the miniport drivers. Has anyone here with a 761 chipset installed the miniport drivers with their 8500?

Jack, have you headed over to the Rage3D tech forum? Seems to be a fair# of pretty knowledgeable folks other there that are more than happy to help you out.

Every game and demo I've played so far looks great, and runs super smooth. Getting over 8300 on 3dm2001 untweaked.
I've had no issues installing this card on a k6-2 and an XP. Although I haven't tried to turn on fast writes, soon enough I'll get around to tweaking the thing.

8300 on 3dm2001?
I'm jealous - my score is about 7800.

I had some initial crash problems with the first drivers, but the current drivers are much more stable...

My setup (no overclocking - yet!)
Radeon 8500 (with the latest drivers from ATI.com)
XP Professional
ADM 1700XP processor
512MB Crucial RAM
80GB 7200 WD HD
MSI K7T266 Pro2 RU motherboard (Via 266A chipset)

Had the card for couple days. Have problems with couple games, ie Maddeon 2002. RTWC looks awesome at high resolution. NBA live 2001 looks like a new game with 1600x1200x32 @ 85hz.
Its a fast card with great image quality. I haven't even overclock this card.
