I love my mom, but I think she's trying to kill me.

My parents came to visit this weekend - I like seeing them, and doing things in general with them too. The biggest bonus of their visits is that they always stock me up necessities around the house, and while I'm not complaining (who complains about free food, TP, and cleaning supplies!!?!?!!), I think my mother is trying to kill me through some kind of diabetic coma.

She got me two 36 packs of Mountain Dew, a few boxes of pop tarts, same for double chocolate chip cookies, Gushers, gallons of "southern" sweet tea (AKA syrup), and some other niceties. 😱

"You look thin, dear. Are you sure you're eating regularly?" 😛

I was gonna post "you must be in Florida" then I looked up your profile and sure enough, Florida. My mom lives in FL, not born there, originally from NYC, but when I visit her there is so much sweet crap in her house that she buys for when I visit. She's diabetic so its not for her, and I keep telling her why does she keep buying all this cake and crap. She says its for my son but I never give my kid sweets, especially soda.

Have you considered hitting her with a sausage??

Hahah - maybe with the Gwaltney "Great Dogs" she bought me (hot dogs are essentially sausages, right??)

Geez, and my mom's now on some health food kick, convinced that the food industry is evil or something. Pasteurized milk is bad, MSG is dangerous, and all kinds of products are actually dangerous, etc etc. She even bought me some nutrition book written by someone who is very qualified: Not a scientist, not a doctor, but a farmer who also spent some time in politics. The book is essentially advertising for her business.
