I also have bears in my neighborhood, BoomerD!

Not as exciting as a bear, but the other day I watched a deer come out of the forest and start munching some foliage in the neighbor's yard. My other neighbor was actively leafblowing, so I was a little surprised that didn't seem to bother the deer.

Do bears eat deer? I know it would be hard to catch a deer but what if the bear is really smart?
Our bears are lazy. Why chase deer when there are so many delicious garbage cans for the taking?
They will eat dead deer…and they get killed by cars periodically.

What happens to the car or driver? Legal action taken against them? Do they avoid getting seriously injured?
Legal action? LOL wut. You don't hit a deer on purpose, they can do a lot of damage to your car. I'm sure such injuries occur, but nobody that I know that's hit a deer has been injured seriously.

Not deer. Bear. That could endanger the driver I think. Concentrated blob of mass.

Huh, looks like a young one was hit near a road I take when I visit a friend up in Bremerton six years ago (but the bear seemed uninjured based on the article)
Looks like it does happen here and there, but based on a quick scan of articles, not terribly frequent.

You know, I can't say I hear much about people hitting bears.
it happens here every couple of years. Makes a big mess of the bear...and the car.

Legal action? For hitting a deer? Not unless they can prove it was done intentionally.

There is NO hunting of any kind permitted here...except for a tiny sliver on the bay where hunting water fowl is permitted. We get poachers all the time. Folks that try to kill deer with bows and arrows. Some succeed...some just leave the deer wandering around with arrows sticking out of them...and the state wildlife department has to try to capture the deer and remove the arrows. Most residents will drop a dime on a poacher. The deer are like fckn pets.
