I LOVE it when I prove people wrong! LOVE IT!

Here is the original thread started on March 1st, 2005:

Seriously, why the hell are video cards even being equipped with a VGA

Summary
I made the following prediction about the next gen cards (7800GTX as we know it now):
My prediction is that the next generation high end video cards will offer DVI/DVI and fewer DVI/VGA cards. Hopefully the next gen cards will offer dual link DVI cards.

And it looks like I was spot on!

Unfortunately, not everyone can be as forward thinking as I am, so I'd like to call those people out NOW!

Bar81, COME ON DOWN! You were DEAD wrong, and I LOVE IT!

Again, you're missing my points. As to the whole dual DVI movement. You're SPECULATING without *any* basis in fact that dual DVI is imminent. It will come, just not in May when you think it is. There are simply too many CRTs still out there and being sold to justify that.

Next in line, BenBenSkywalker, COME ON DOWN! I'm going to LOVE seeing you plug that DVI>VGA adapter on your brand new 7800GTX. Will you post pics? 🙂

So the less then 1% of the market with dual DVI based LCDs that are all too happy to compromise their gaming performance should dictate to the rest of the market how things are done?
Yes.

And last but DEFINITELY not least, VirtualLarry. Larry, if anyone has even looked at the original thread, was the MAIN opponent of dual DVI. Well guess what Larry, I'm not going to quote you, that would make this first post WAY too long. All I WILL say though is that you were wrong, and I couldn't have been more right. And that REALLY feels good now. Just know, it makes me feel REALLY good knowing that you'll have to use a DVI>VGA adapter for your CRT with THIS generation of gaming video cards. And know that I'll be smiling whenever you AND BenSKywalker plug that DVI>VGA adapter to that DVI connection on your brand new 7800GTX (and we all know it is going to be around the year 2010 before you get one). That in itself makes the 7800GTX a success for me. The hidden "slap Larry and Ben in the face" feature makes it all worth it for me. Everything else is just gravy. 🙂

And to all the others that dared to question my foresight, well, I forgive you. Just know that I'm smarter than you. 😉

This is the end of my "IN YOUR FACE" post so I'd like to beat the first poster to the punch...
:cookie:
Now we can move forward. 🙂

You needed to make a post about this, why?

Your e-penis has gone limp.

And he remembered that from 4 months ago...

Err, he must have been fairly traumatised by a 4 month old thread....

Well he was right. And if you read that thread, you would see why he posted this. There are some fairly heated arguments in there.

And the award for the most immature post of the year goes to....

That being said, what's the big deal? My 6600GT is DualDVI.

lol, he had this in his "favorites" for months just waiting.

i admire your bitterness.

edit--and htf did that thread manage to go 12 pages or something? 😛

They SUPPORT dual-link DVI, but that's not featured on the 7800GTX card, only on the Quadro variant according to Anand's review.

You had a 50/50 chance at being right 😛. Way to pick the right one I guess... Plus, the quote by Bar81 proves YOU wrong.

It's past May and almost past June. Sounds like Bar81 knew it wasn't coming that early 😛.

So what if I prefer to play on a crt? Now I gotta use a stupid adaptor? I hope the r520 has a vga port, so then there will be even less reason for me to buy a gf7800 (besides the fact that it costs 2x but does not give you 2x the performance). LCDs may be the new "cool" thing to have, but they're not for everyone - I still like the IQ of CRTs better.

Do you realize how pathetic you look by posting this? Good job, now go make me a Big Mac.

Its not very hard to guess that more cards will have dual DVI. Simply because you can use an adapter to get VGA, and you cant to get DVI from VGA. That, and more and more have been avail for well over a year.

I generally don't post in these threads, but this is absolutely hilarious, the best thread I have seen in a while for pure entertainment value. I just got a new CRT by the way.
