Here is the original thread started on March 1st, 2005:
Seriously, why the hell are video cards even being equipped with a VGA
Summary
I made the following prediction about the next gen cards (7800GTX as we know it now):
And it looks like I was spot on!
Unfortunately, not everyone can be as forward thinking as I am, so I'd like to call those people out NOW!
Bar81, COME ON DOWN! You were DEAD wrong, and I LOVE IT!
Next in line, BenBenSkywalker, COME ON DOWN! I'm going to LOVE seeing you plug that DVI>VGA adapter on your brand new 7800GTX. Will you post pics? 🙂
And last but DEFINITELY not least, VirtualLarry. Larry, if anyone has even looked at the original thread, was the MAIN opponent of dual DVI. Well guess what Larry, I'm not going to quote you, that would make this first post WAY too long. All I WILL say though is that you were wrong, and I couldn't have been more right. And that REALLY feels good now. Just know, it makes me feel REALLY good knowing that you'll have to use a DVI>VGA adapter for your CRT with THIS generation of gaming video cards. And know that I'll be smiling whenever you AND BenSKywalker plug that DVI>VGA adapter to that DVI connection on your brand new 7800GTX (and we all know it is going to be around the year 2010 before you get one). That in itself makes the 7800GTX a success for me. The hidden "slap Larry and Ben in the face" feature makes it all worth it for me. Everything else is just gravy. 🙂
And to all the others that dared to question my foresight, well, I forgive you. Just know that I'm smarter than you. 😉
This is the end of my "IN YOUR FACE" post so I'd like to beat the first poster to the punch...

Now we can move forward. 🙂

Summary
I made the following prediction about the next gen cards (7800GTX as we know it now):
My prediction is that the next generation high end video cards will offer DVI/DVI and fewer DVI/VGA cards. Hopefully the next gen cards will offer dual link DVI cards.
And it looks like I was spot on!

Again, you're missing my points. As to the whole dual DVI movement. You're SPECULATING without *any* basis in fact that dual DVI is imminent. It will come, just not in May when you think it is. There are simply too many CRTs still out there and being sold to justify that.

So the less then 1% of the market with dual DVI based LCDs that are all too happy to compromise their gaming performance should dictate to the rest of the market how things are done?
