I Love Firefly Season

No lights, it's completely dark in my backyard. A little more than a couple of acres back there, with a year round stream you can fish in. I own land on both sides of the stream. It's firefly season now. I love it. I sit on my back porch and watch the light show in the forest on the other side of the stream, like it was orchestrated on my own personal movie screen.

You can't beat nature for a show. :beermug:

Last night, I tried taking some video with my Huawei P9. Nothing came out, not enough light source, I guess. I have a consumer grade Panasonic with a 32x zoom somewhere. I'm not even up to digging it out these days.

So . . . no firefly vid for YOU! 😛

Yea, they're cool, but seeing them means it's hot out. I'll take a cold January with sparkling snow falling evey time.

Just got woken up by a tick chewing through my side, and now I can't get back to sleep. No ticks in January either...

As a photographer, that Panasonic 32x zoom will capture nothing or will do very poorly.

Zoom's direct tradeoff is requiring more light. 32x zoom at night is like drinking vodka and tylenol.

Despair not, spend $20 for a cheap tripod and do a timed shutter. This will yield good results.

Let us know when you are allergic to red meat.

When I was a kid I'd pull the lights off and stick them to my fingernails. Ironically, I wasn't as enlightened then...

hopefully I will see some this weekend. I love watching them every summer.

maybe I will try recording them with my phone.

Speaking of the outdoor, I was running errand around 10 p.m. and the sky was clear and the moon was full and bright. It was beautiful to look at but it was also hot and humid even at 10 p.m.
