They may very well be, but they do report on nondotcoms. I think that the dotcom failures are just more evident to the average Joe. How many people would know if a B&M hardware store in Hillsdale closed?
It also could be a knee-jerk reaction to all the Ooooohs and Aaaaas that dotcoms generated not so long ago.
