I sent in my 7800gt 256, actually my rma replaced of my original 7800gt, for rma and they sent me, no lie, a 7950GT 512mb in return.

Card is confusing though as it's serial number sticker says 7900GS 256mb, but the sticker on the PCB says 512mb and the cooler is a copper one that says 7950GT on it. Booted it up and the drivers see it as a 512mb 7950GT.

I was going to sell the RMA'ed 7800 when I got it. Now I will sell my 256mb 7950GT instead and keep this 512mb version for myself.

My luck has been really bad lately, maybe this is a sign it's changing.

I am going to stress test it before I get too crazy, but cool.

Sweet! They got my 7800GT 256 CO on Friday.
Just got a notification from UPS tonight that they will be delivering my replacement card on the 25th.
I was half expecting a 8600GT as a replacement. Now I have some hope. We'll see.

I inquired with eVGA's RMA guys, and they said I am getting an "exact replacement". I guess they refurbed one of you guys' 7800 GT and are sending it to me.

Well it doesn't beat my pals story :! he sends in a 7800GTX and what he gets in return is a new 8800GTS 640mb since MSI had no 7800GTX/7900GTX in stock :) lol

XFX just replaced my 7900 GT with a 7950 GT. Not a huge difference, but good nonetheless.

Yeah, EVGA doesn't have anything older than the 7950GT in stock anymore. My brother just sent in his 256MB 7800GT as well and got a 512MB 7950GT.
